Pam&Angela

Drabble 01

Pam sighed at her desk, mind occupied by her earlier encounter with Angela. The smaller woman was confusing, frustrating, and willful. Pam was sure she would hate to be described as willful, but didn't know any other way to describe the other woman's attitude. She knew something was going on in her life. There were small changes leading to bigger efforts such as asking Pam to coffee, but the receptionist knew she would only receive cryptic, minimal information.

The restrained woman was a puzzle and Pam had all the time in the world to think about her. She had a hair trigger personality. Pam had never seen her hesitate to voice an opinion, be it a loud, scathing one, or merely a disagreement. Angela would often find herself on the losing side of the conflict, and then bottle her rage. It was obvious the small woman was livid but after her outbursts she went mostly ignored. Angela was lively where Pam was not. She acted when Pam did not.

The receptionist remembered feeling Angela's small hand on her back as she nudged her in line on their coffee date. She noticed the soft, light color of her hair and the way her rare smiles softened her face. She was small and fair where Pam was darker, taller. Pam had felt odd at first for wanting to put an arm around the smaller woman's shoulders as she walked her out the door. Remembered wanting to hold the door and see if her smile. She didn't though. She had never wanted these things before, never enough to act. Angela would act though and inside Pam was hoping Angela would act on her.
