A/N Je suis gâté. Désolé is French for I'm spoiled. Sorry

James Potter knew that he had it better than his friends. He knew that his life was easier to deal with. James wasn't a werewolf. James didn't have pure-blood obsessed maniacs. James didn't have to try to avoid all conversations about his home. James had never once thought it necessary to block out his friends whenever it came to his personal life.
James had two loving parents who were very well off. He was an only child and very spoiled. He lived in a nice home where he could talk openly about magic and his friends. His life was easy. In fact, the hardest thing he had to deal with was Lily Evan's always rejecting him
James was actually very sorry that he was so spoiled. He hated that his life was so easy when his friends lived in hell. Now, don't get him wrong. He knows that he's lucky. It's not like he wishes for his life to be hell also, but he does wish to have a better understanding of what his friends go through. Even Lily had it worse off than he did.
How can it get any easier that being rich, spoiled, and having an amazing and loving family? It can't. They why he doesn't talk about home a lot. But of course, his friends already know how well off he is. They've been there. They have seen with there own eyes how James lives. They had all stayed with him. They have all seen what they never had.
The only things that was actually the slightest bit negative about James' home life, was that his parents weren't around a lot. He never complained though. They were there when it was most important to him. That's all that really mattered. Even if they never came home, he would still wouldn't complain. His parents are busy people.
James often questioned himself about why he acts out at school so much, but the truth is, there isn't really an answer. James loves attention and that's all. He always got it at home when his parents were there. James just never saw a reason to give it up just because he was going away to school. Thankfully he found friend's that agree with him.
Another example of how great James' life is, and how loving his parents are, is the fact that his parents let Sirius Black stay with them after running away. They accepted him with open arms and they let him stay all summer.
James almost felt like he was bragging to himself by thinking about all of this, but he wasn't actually. He simply found it difficult to not compare his life to his friends' during tough times. Sirius would talk about his brother, Remus would talk about his parents fighting (and about how he feels like it's his fault), and Peter would only look to the ground not saying much, but they all knew that he just didn't want to talk about it. They would all sit around, talking about their homes, and James wouldn't know what to say. It's the only time that James actually felt left out, and like an outcast of the groups.
He hated that feeling. He knew he had no reason to complain, but James wasn't used to feeling left out. He would simply listen to them, and keep his mouth shut. All he could do other than that, he apologize profusely, over and over again inside his head, for not being able to truly understand. That's another feeling he hated. He hated being spoiled at moments like that. He was sorry for not understanding; he was sorry for being spoiled.
