Disclaimer: Shaman King belongs to Hiroyuki Takei, not me. Neither does the musical Razia's Shadow; it belongs to Forgive Durden.

This is the beginning and the end. The rise and the fall.
Our gait will begin its saunter at the source, when the infant learns to crawl

"Please tell us a story?" Redseb begged for the umpteenth time.

"No," she said flatly.

He grabbed her hand and tugged it. "We won't be able to go to sleep unless you tell us a story," he said.

"Then go ask Mikihisa," she suggested unsympathetically.

"He doesn't tell good stories," he said. "Seyram doesn't like them. Do you, Seyram?"

She shrugged.

"Why can't you tell us one, Sissy?" Redseb asked.

"I don't know any," Anna said. "Get into bed, you two."

"We mean it," he threatened, his little arms crossed. "We won't sleep at all unless you tell us a story! We won't even get into bed."

He planted his feet firmly on the ground. Anna sighed and rubbed her forehead. "If I tell you one story, will you go to bed?" she said.

"Of course!" Redseb chirped.

"Fine," she relented. The two Munzer children scrambled into bed. "Just one, though."

Redseb patted the space between him and his sister. "Come sit," he urged.

Anna sat down between the two of them. "I don't know many stories," she warned them.

"That's okay," Redseb shrugged. "Just make it about people we know."

She frowned. "But I-"

"Go on," Redseb urged.

She sighed heavily. "All right," she said. "It all started when the…the great spirit…"

"Oh, no," Redseb interrupted. "It has to start with 'once upon a time.' Seyram only likes stories that start with 'once upon a time'."

Anna glanced down at the little girl. Seyram nodded. "Fine," she said. "Once upon a time…"

-----

Once upon a time, the great spirit decided to create a new world. He began with the angels- an entire host of beings who helped him in his endeavor. As he guided them the world took shape, with rising peaks and falling valleys, with rain and sunshine, with animals and plants. And as the great spirit was the author and the directthe or, his angels were his inkslingers, his actors and actresses.

Out of all of those angels, his two purest talents were Hao and Asanoha. They were two destined hearts that were bound by the same idea- that the unrelenting constancy of love and hope can rescue you from any scope.

The world reached completion, and the great spirit quieted. His angels were content…all except one.

Hao was deeply unhappy. He had been at the great spirit's right hand, and now he was relegated to the same status of all the other angels. His gifts were great, greater than all of the other angels…and yet he was ignored. He felt that his gifts had been exhausted, that he had been misused.

So he turned to Asanoha to curb his growing frustration. She listened without judging and offered him no scolding. He found that she averted his passion, and eased his blood…and so he confessed it to her.

He had fallen in love.

Author's Notes:

Gaaaaaah, short. But that's partially the nature of this story...the chapters will be short so they can match up with the songs in the musical. Because this story is entirely based on an indie rock concept musical called Razia's Shadow. It's mostly done by the band Forgive Durden, but they have lots of guest stars that I love- particularly Greta Salpeter from the Hush Sound and Brendan Urie from Panic! At the Disco. Everyone needs to hear it....so I'm writing a story based on it. Go give the first song "Genesis" while you skim over this chapter again. Go on, I'll wait.

...awesome, isn't it?
