The Obsidian One: Rise of the Obsidian Knights

(A parallel series to Yin and Yang.)(May contain Octo Expansion spoilers.) The Obsidian Knights are the best group in history. No doubt. But an attack on their base leaves may scattered and lost. And when they cross paths with their rivals, the Mach Squids, they may have to team up with their nemesis to defeat a organization that will spell doom if not stopped.

Prologue: Ashes to Ashes

Maelstrom:

Bombs

Screaming

So much screaming

base destroyed

father dead

octoling invasion

traitor ratted us out

Tsunami gone

Dead bodies all around

I'm helpless

Screaming...

That's all Maelstrom could think of. As an Obsidian Knight, this shouldn't have happened. They were strong and proud, not screaming while their base was destroyed. "Tsunami. Tsunami? TSUNAMI!" Maelstrom yelled. He could not afford to lose another love, not now. Tsunami and him was all like the other Obsidian Knights: at least 16 years old, jet-black hair, around 5'4", unnaturally strong, and fighting against the NILS to survive. But to him, Tsunami was so much more. We were all better than the Machs, Maelstrom thought, but how did our base infiltrated then? Oh dammit, where is Tsunami? He searched for an hour. Finally, he found her, trapped under a giant pillar.

Help! She thought weakly at him. Oh right, Obsidians can read minds and mentally communicate. Kinda weird if you asked Maelstrom, but that didn't matter now.

I'm getting you out. Just hang tight.

Ok.

How'd you get stuck?

Maelstrom was almost done pulling her out as she said I was on my way to a meeting, when the alarm sounded. I frantically tried to get to the nearest safe point, but this pillar trapped me. Why did you come back for me?

Uh oh.

What?

He finally pulled her out, as he thought You may or may not like this.

At this point, I probably wouldn't care.

You will.

They neared a safe point now. I know, I know, but you're beautiful and you're funny and I miss you when you're not near and I would di-

Shhhh. I get it, I love you too.

Momentary silence.

She was about to think something else, when another pillar broke with a loud crack, and fell towards Maelstrom and Tsunami. He gaped at it, when Tsunami grabbed him, with tears filling her cool, midnight eyes.

No, Maelstrom thought, I know that look. Don't you do it. Don't! You can escape too! TSUNAMI!

We both know it's too late. She gently thought, I'm sorry.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!TSUNAMI BE RATIONA-

He didn't get to complete that thought as Tsunami kissed him on the cheek, and hurled him into the Safety Point Room. He heard a shriek as she went down, crushed by her marble attacker. Maelstrom screamed a primal scream, almost scaring his own self. Luckily, he was the only one in the room.

NILS, you're done, first my dad, then my love? No, you are finished. I will slaughter you all, no matter how long it takes. Maelstrom sat in the dark, thinking hateful, cold thoughts.
