Prologue

A male teen with the most brilliant blond hair sat at a desk thinking. His mind was shrouded in a foretold darkness. His gaze was distant and he was fiddling with his thumbs.

An ancient ghost watched from a distance. Oh what a silly mortal to not realize the regrowing potential, he thought. He approached the teen with easy slow steps. "Light is stronger than the growing darkness," he murmured softly in an unfamiliar ghost voice.

The teen sharply looked up at the old ghost. "What do you know?" he muttered.

That was all the ghost needed to get into a familiar cocky spirit. "You are Lloyd. You are the master of energy and the one being who can restore the balance!"

Lloyd groaned. This ghost was a know-it-all! "My powers failed to defeat my father!"

The ghost ignored that. "Why did your green powers come back?" he asked. The ghost had to admit that the kid had spirit.

Lloyd wasn't sure how to answer that. He looked expectantly at the ghost and at last saw it clearly. He was an old man with a white beard like Wu, but had his father's face. He also had a short white braid under a rice hat. He also held a bamboo staff and wore an ancient gi. "You seem to know?" he asked in a more cautious way.

"You had a backup power working to restore the one you lost," the ghost muttered. "Any ideas of what that power is?"

Lloyd was confused for a couple moments before remembering a past event. One that he had come to regret. He managed to restore his team's powers with his golden one.

The ghost laughed as Lloyd's face was screwed in thought. "You thought it was gone, didn't you?"

Lloyd's thinking face turned into a scowl. "Yes," he scorned. "Yes, I did."

The ghost shook his head. "You are so naive, young one."

Lloyd wasn't really offended. He fell for a lot of crap in his short life. It started with Pythor. Of course the ghost wasn't going to put him into a cage inside an active volcano, but he still had to be sharp. He also had to deal with Chen's shenanigans on the way and go on a mission to a museum, only to be possessed by Morro. Not to mention Harumi, whom he still longed for. "Not a surprise," he muttered.

The ghost suddenly got serious. "Your golden powers are the key to the balance! You must resurface them," he ordered. "Or they can interrupt your everyday life."

"How do you know this?" Lloyd asked. Lloyd couldn't wrap his head around this ghost.

"That is for you to discover," the ghost whispered. Lloyd was confused for a moment before awakening in his bed at the monastery.
