Rest

Dragging his hooves through the camp and yawning under an early morning sky Chiron smacked his face to keep himself awake. With many of the teachers on vacation it was up to him to pick up the slack.

From setting up the tables in the tents for classes and food to keeping the weapons in top shape he had to do it all. While he was immortal even he needed to sleep.

The sun finally rose within the sky bringing forth a new day. Chiron yawned one last time before forcing a smile upon his face. Remaining calm and hiding a few more yawns he forced his eyes to remain open as he taught every class. While many of the students were interchanging between classes and training everything was running smoothly much to Chiron's delight.

Yet Percy couldn't help but worry about his mentor. Chiron was always moving he never once took a break. With the dark circles under his eyes and disheveled hair he knew something had to be done.

Night came, the moon glisten over the lake as Percy paced back and forth along the edge. He was shortly joined by Annabeth and Grover who greeted him with a yawn.

"What is so important that you wanted to meet with us in the middle of the night?" Grover asked.

"It's Chiron." Percy said

Both Annabeth and Grover looked to one another then back at Percy.

"He's been working himself to the point of exhaustion." Percy added.

"Yeah….he's done so much for us, I think it's time for us to do something for him." Annabeth said.

"So whats the plan?" Grover asked.

"We gather every demi kid in the camp and we pick up the slack." Percy said.

"Okay that's well and good, but who is going to keep Chiron busy?" Annabeth asked.

"Don't worry that's already been taken care of." Percy replied.

As the night rolled on Chiron found himself in his chambers looking over a list of things to do for tomorrow. Ignoring his tired legs and aching body Chiron pushed on. Yet as he turned to the door to get ready to leave he felt something tap his shoulder.

Chiron's eyes widen to see a silver haired goddess smiling back at him.

"Selene…." Chiron managed to say.

"Hello old friend. " The goddess replied.

"While it's nice to see you I'm afraid you caught me at a bad time." Chiron said.

"No I didn't." Selene replied.

Tilting his head in confusion Selene walked over to the window causing Chiron to follow. Looking down on the grounds he noticed all of his students were out of bed. At first he was thinking of going down there, but the moment he saw some of them sharping the weapons, setting up the tables and even dusting the grounds Chiron smiled.

"They noticed how hard you have been working so they wanted to give you a break." Selene said.

Watching his students do this for him brought tears to his eyes. A sigh escaped Chiron followed with a yawn.

Selene helped Chiron over to his bed he merely nodded his thanks as he laid down. He could finally give his body a rest something he so desperately needed.

"I will be sure to thank them." Chiron said.

Selene nodded she watched as Chiron yawned once more as he laid his head on his pillow. The moment he closed his eyes Selene smiled as she gently caressed his cheek.

"Rest well my centaur for you deserve it."
