On days like today, Wilson remembered how different his best friend was from the rest of humanity.
House was happy and it showed. It showed in the way he tripped an orderly with nary an apology. It showed in how he gleefully—yes, gleefully!—insulted Chase's 'sorry excuse for man-stubble' while humming an aria. He even did the crippled rendition of a dance Wilson had never witnessed before and never cared to see again. He guessed it was some tribal thing House had seen on the National Geographic channel.
His bitter, narcissistic misanthrope of a best friend was overjoyed and he expressed that by expanding his reign of terror.
Thanks a lot, Cuddy, Wilson thought, rolling his eyes as yet another jelly bean sailed across the lunch table to smack him in the forehead. It would have been just like any day ending in 'y' if not for the gleam in his friend's eyes. The pain was there, ever-present as it was, but it was being held at bay by the delicious hormones flooding his system. Love and comfort and companionship were making him feel like a million bucks, even if they hadn't made him a better man yet.
Yet.
Wilson hadn't given up hope.
