Confusion

"Ug, another boring day of school." Amu sighed as she walked through the halls of her elementary school, headed for homeroom.

Ran cheered, "Remember Amu-chan, just two more days before the weekend!" Amu smiled at her always optimistic guardian character.

Upon entering her homeroom, Amu was greeted by her friend Nadeshiko. "Hello Amu-chan."

"Hi Nadeshiko-chan." Amu replied with a small wave. She sat down in her seat and sighed.

"What's wrong?" The purple-haired girl asked, worry creeping into her voice.

The pinkette whined, "I don't want to have to go to school today. Why can't it be the weekend already?"

Nadeshiko laughed, getting Amu and her charas to join in. The teacher walked in and begun class, ending their friendly chat.

After school, the guardians had a tea party in the royal garden, which consisted mainly of mountains of never ending paperwork. It was mind numbingly boring. Amu then walked home after saying goodbye to her friends and immediately plopped on her bed.

Ran said, "Amu-chan, you should do your homework soon so you don't forget."

"In a minute. Right now I need to relax." The guardian character's owner replied. She closed her eyes, her mind wandering to Ikuto. She hadn't seen him in awhile.

"Whatcha doing?" Amu shot up like a rocket, scanning her room for the source of the voice.

"Who said you could come in my room, creepy cosplay cat!?" She yelled as she threw a pillow across the room at Ikuto, who was standing near the window. He easily dodged her projectile and smirked.

"Who said I needed permission?" He questioned slyly.

"Me!" Amu cried as she threw another pillow at the catboy, who dodged with ease. She was reloading for another shot, but Ikuto grabbed her hand before she could chuck something else at him.

His face was inches away from hers, causing the pinkette to blush heavily. Ikuto smirked again before stealing a quick kiss on the lips from her. "See you later." He whispered in her ear before making a run for it, gone before she could blink. Amu held her fingers on her lips for a second, remembering the feel of his lips on hers.

"Ikuto-kun and Amu-chan sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" Ran sang from the shelter of her egg, knowing she was in danger of getting something thrown at her as well.

"Ran!" Amu yelled. Said chara smiled innocently, and Amu couldn't help but smile back.

She sat down at her desk and quickly finished her homework, ate dinner, then returned to her room for bed. She said, "Night, Ran, Miki, Su."

"Good night!" The three guardian characters replied in three part harmony.

The four of them slept soundly through the night, not waking to the sound of someone climbing through her second story window or when the same person climbed back out moments later, Amu's characters eggs in hand.

"Amu-chan!" Three charas cried together, trying to rouse their owner from the slumber that held her. After several moments said girl woke up.

She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and yawned, "What is it guys?"

They answered, "We don't want you to be late for the guardian meeting before school! You almost overslept!"

"There's a meeting today!?" Amu cried. She quickly dressed and ate breakfast before saying her goodbyes to her family and running to the royal garden.

Upon arriving, she panted, "Am I late?"

Tadase replied, "No, you're on time."

Amu sighed in relief and took her seat at the table. "What's the meeting about?"

The blond boy leaned forward, a serious look dominating his features. "Last night around midnight, I noticed something odd. I felt a draft and woke up, realizing that someone had opened my window; it was shut when I went to bed. I closed it, and in the morning Kiseki told me that he felt as if he was being carried somewhere before he fell asleep that same night."

Yaya held her hand up. "That happened to me too! I was freezing when I woke up!" She demonstrated by hugging herself and shivering while making a 'brrr!' noise.

"Yeah, I thought something weird was up when my window was unlocked when I woke up." Kukai added.

All the guardians agreed that something mysterious was happening behind the scenes. Amu said, "I didn't notice anything odd last night. Did you guys?" She asked her charas.

The three of them thought hard. "Nope." Su and Ran replied. Miki hesitated.

"Well, I did wake up to a click, like a door or window opening or closing, but dismissed it when nothing happened." She informed.

Amu's heart dropped. Someone was in her room last night, along with all of the other guardians'. What did they want?

Tadase said, "I think it's fair to assume that this is the work of Easter." Everyone nodded in agreement.

Realization hit Amu like a brick wall. Ikuto did it, he had to of! Every other possible person from the organization she could think of didn't sneak into people's rooms, while the catboy practically made a living off of entering Amu's house without permission. Also, she had seen him the same day. 'See you later.' He had said.

She told this to her peers, getting reactions similar to her own in return. Tadase growled, "So Tsukiyomi Ikuto is behind this."

Suddenly, they all heard the school bell ring, signaling the start of classes. They all decided to meet later that day after school to finish the meeting.

After last class Amu set out to find Tadase and the others instead of going straight to the garden. She met up with Nadeshiko and Yaya in the hallway, then the trio found Tadase and Kukai talking with another classmate.

She seemed dazzled by the king's chair, looking only seconds from fainting because of it. They reached an agreement about something, and the girl said, "That you so much Prince!"

Everyone except her went into panic mode, expecting Tadase to character change any second. Nadeshiko kicked a bucket towards Amu, who picked it up and readied to use it. The blond boy sat calmly, showing no sign of desire for world domination; shocking and confusing everyone.

The girl left, leaving the guardians to themselves. Kukai asked, "Tadase, did you gain some sense of superhuman self control? Are are you sick"

"No..." The blond answered to both questions, just as mystified as his classmates.

"Maybe you didn't hear her correctly...?" Nadeshiko suggested.

They all glanced at each other and said, "That must be it."

Amu set out ahead of everyone else for the royal garden. About halfway there none other than Ikuto stopped her. He was hanging upside down in a doorway by his feet, smiling at the pinkette.

"Hello there." He greeted.

Amu stopped dead in her tracks, almost walking straight into him. She accused, "Did you sneak into my room last night!?"

Ikuto smirked. "That was a bit random."

"Answer the question!"

"Pushy." The catboy came down from his odd perch and stood in front of the girl. "And no. After you tried to kill me with your pillows I never came back." He said simply.

"So you didn't sneak into the other guardians' rooms either?"

Ikuto wrinkled his nose. "Why would I want to do that?"

Amu explained the ordeal about the mystery person from Easter and got a bit off topic and explained the odd encounter of Tadase not turning king.

She said, "I've never seen Tadase hear the word 'prince' and not go crazy."

Ikuto glared at her. "Did you just say prince?" He growled.

"Yeah, why?" Amu asked.

Suddenly a golden crown eerily familiar to Tadase's appeared on Ikuto's head and he began laughing maniacally. "Lowly peasant, how dare you call your king a mere prince!"

Amu froze. Was it just her or did Ikuto just turn into the king...? The catboy began carrying on about world domination, which Amu blocked out easily from her practice when Tadase turned like that.

She consulted her charas about it. "The resemblance is uncanny..." Miki acknowledged.

Nadeshiko, Yaya, Kukai and Tadase walked down the hall towards them. Realizing Ikuto was there, they got defensive. After listening to him for a moment they questioned, "Isn't that the way the king acts?"

"Yeah." Amu replied, just as confused as they were.

Experimentally, she placed the bucket she was still holding on his head, then removed it a second later, calming Ikuto out of the odd state. He looked around confusedly. "When did they get here?" He asked Amu, gesturing to the guardians.

"A minute ago. After you turned into the king." She answered.

"The what?"

Amu explained, "The king is what we call Tadase's character after someone says the 'p word'."

"Then why did I act like that?" The catboy asked, cocking his head to the side.

"That's what i'm still trying to figure out!" The pinkette yelled.

Tadase said slowly, "It's like we swapped personalities..."

"How is that even possible?" Nadeshiko questioned.

"It could be Easter's doing." Kukai suggested.

Tadase looked at Kiseki, who was floating around near his eye-level. They nodded at each other, and the blond character changed. Instead of his usual crown, Tadase gained a set of gold car ears and a matching cat tail.

"What the...?" He gasped, mystified. He turned around, trying to get a look at his tail. "How is this possible!?" He cried.

Ikuto smirked. "The king has finally been striped of his title."

"Why you-"

"Enough!" Amu shouted, effectively stopping the two from bickering. "There is no need to slaughter each other!"

"Are you sure?" Ikuto smirked again, purposely irritating the pinkette. She slapped his arm, causing the boy to let loose a laugh.

"There must be some logical reason for this to happen." Amu said, pacing between the guardians and Ikuto. She turned on the navyblue-haired male. "Did anything seem off when you woke up this morning?"

Ikuto answered, "Yoru's egg was in a different place than it was the day before; but that always happens whenever he goes out for a midnight stroll."

Said guardian character countered, "I didn't go anywhere last night~ nya!"

"You didn't?"

"Nope~ nya." Yoru replied.

Amu said, "Someone was in all of our rooms last night, and must have done something to our charas, which means it is most likely Easter."

"But i'm part of that organization. What would they want with me?" Ikuto demanded, getting no response.

"So..." Amu continued. "...whatever is happening to Tadase-kun and Ikuto must be happening to all of us."

Everyone looked at eachother, then to their guardian characters, and character changed. The results daunted those present.

Yaya looked like she changed with Ran, Kukai with Miki, Nadeshiko with Su, and Amu -who had originally tried to change with Ran- seemed to have changed with Pepe.

The pinkette spat the binkie out of her mouth and tried to change with her other charas, Miki and Su, resembling Daichi and Temari respectively.

They all began to freak out on different levels, their new forms alien to them. Amu asked, "What happened to us...?"
