"Jean stop taking pictures and get in the car!" James moaned.

"You do realise how funny it is a sight that I'm looking at?" Jean laughed as she took yet another photo on her smart phone.

"What? It's a lovely car!" James protested.

"I never said it wasn't, it's a bit over the top for a day road trip."

"Well I wanted it to be special!" Had she really been thinking then that might have served as the first warning as to what was coming. Instead she was now sat in the car next to him quietly excited, she'd only done romantic road trips once or twice before and that was when she first met Richard, something she didn't want to dwell on as they were divorced and her life was with James now.

"Where are we going then?" Jean asked impatiently.

"You do know what a surprise is, right?" James laughed as she went to protest as James put a CD on that she'd never heard before. As he drove he passed Jean a CD case the front of which said 'For Jean, I love you' but it was the track list on the back was what brought tears to her eyes. Each of the songs had a meaning within their relationship and after each song name and artist there was an explanation as to why it was important. Had James not been a completely romantic partner and incredibly sweet then his actions may have served as warning two but as he was she was completely unaware of what was to come.

He pulled over in what looked like the middle of nowhere, but this was all part of the plan, the look on her face was one of shock as he killed the engine and got out of the car. "One sec, stay there." James said as he ran around the car and opened the door for her and took her hand as she stepped out.

"James I am capable of helping." Jean told him as James carried the heavy picnic basket and a blanket.

"I know you are but I've got it."

They stopped in the middle of a grassy field, over looking another field with long grass and wild flowers.

"James this is lovely."

"Don't doubt me when I take you places then!"

"I didn't doubt you, I was just confused."

"Yeah right, anyway lets eat."

The picnic basket housed a bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and normal picnic food.

"That was lovely." Jean smiled as she stood up and looked around at the scenery when she turned back around she turned to see James down on one knew, a black velvet box holding a sparkling ring, in his hand.

"Jean honey, will you do me the honour of becoming my wife?" Tears that had been building up and even relieving themselves tiny amounts through the day now spilled down her face.

"Of course."
