A/N: Major Thor 2 spoilers ahead dfghgfgdf
"Please-just give me this one thing, and I'll never ask for anything else," Loki stated, forcing himself to keep a determined look on his face. He couldn't show anyone just how weak and helpless he felt-especially not the All-Father. Loki was already degrading himself by begging him for this one favour. "I swear it… Please…" he added, his voice unintentionally faltering.
Odin narrowed his eyes at the one he once called his son. He opened his mouth, fully ready to decline the Jotun's request when his only son interrupted.
"Even he deserves this one thing, Father…" He felt Loki's eyes watching him. "He hasn't asked anything else of you… At least give him this."
The All-Father lowered his eyes and stepped aside to let Loki through. He swore he heard Loki utter a hushed 'thank you,' but the sounds of the rattling chains around his wrists drowned out the gratitude.
Thor began unlocking the cuffs around the trickster's wrists and let them fall to the hard ground. "Why are you doing this?" Loki whispered.
The blonde's eyes met with his brother's emerald orbs. "I know how close you are with Mother. Father can't deny you of your only request…"
Loki bowed his head and nodded. This would most likely be the only thing Odin would grant him. "Thank you, Thor."
The thunder god nodded and left Loki's side. His Brother deserved this moment of solitude, free of his chains and cage.
Loki forced himself to smile as if he hadn't a care in the world. "I know not where to begin, Mother," he breathed. He clasped his hands behind his back and began massaging his sore wrists. "However, I understand that this is my last chance to speak with you." Loki inhaled deeply and stiffened his back. "I'd like to say… many things, actually…" He knew that he was stalling to buy himself more time. How could he possibly sum up all that his Mother had done for him in mere minutes? If he didn't hurry, Thor-or worse, Odin-would force him away. "I've read all of the books you've loaned me…" He needed to find the right words to say, but his silver tongue was failing him. Loki dropped his hands to his sides and balled up his fists. "Do you remember…when you taught me magic? You taught me everything that I know," he added without leaving a chance for a reply. "And this." Using his magic, Loki summoned a small flame into his open palm. "The first trick you taught me. This one always left me mesmerized…" His eyes flickered as he gazed at the tiny ball of light. Behind him, Loki could hear Thor's heavy footsteps approaching. His time to speak was limited, apparently. "Before we go our separate ways…" Loki fought back the sob in his throat. "I ask for your forgiveness, Mother. You've given me more love than one child needed… I didn't deserve your love…" He focused his gaze on the warm flame as tears began blurring his vision. "Thank you," he choked out. "Thank you, Mother…" Loki squeezed his eyes shut, allowing for his tears to roll down his cheeks. "And goodbye," he whispered. He threw the little flame towards the wooden boat at his feet, watching the flame greedily eat away at the casket for his Mother's lifeless body.
