Chapter 1
He stared out of his dormitory window. It was the first day of his last year at Hogwarts and, the day had gone by miserably slow and it had given him too much time to think about his life. He hated his life, though he could never let anyone know that. He was lonely though he never acted that way. He sat there, staring at the sky, pondering the meaning of life. He couldn't find one and that made him feel even worse than he had before. He wished that he could just say sod it all and let everyone see the real him. However, he knew that he just couldn't do that. He was a Malfoy. He was heir to the Malfoy legacy and King of the Slytherins. Funny wasn't it? Draco Malfoy of Slytherin was lonely. He felt the tears welling behind his eyes and allowed them to fall, knowing that he was alone in the new Head Boy dorm. He just wished that he could be someone else. He didn't want to lead the life that he knew he couldn't refuse. He hated his father for doing this to him. He hated the Dark Lord for surviving all those years ago. He hated this school for holding him prisoner. But most of all he hated himself for imprisoning himself with his attitude and his haughtiness. He wished for one brief second that he could go back and change it all.
His eyes fell to the grounds where the rain was pouring down from the sky. It looked almost peaceful, the world shrouded in the sheets of relentless summer rain. That was when he saw her. She looked like a phantom, standing beside the lake, face uplifted. The figure of her standing strong against the lashing rain was breathtaking. She was strength. She kept herself apart from the world around her, that was obvious from the fact that she was standing in the rain at two in the morning. He didn't know who she was, but in that instant that he saw her he fell in love, so irreversibly, so life-changing that it almost hurt. His chest constricted as he watched her throw her hands out to her sides and her head back and spin, not caring how wet she got or even how cold. She looked so happy and Draco wished that he could have that. He watched her for who knows how long. He was fascinated by this beauty who's obvious love for life was stunning.
He carried himself to bed that night and dreamt of the spectre dancing in the torrent of nature's tears. He prayed to God that he would see her again, even if it was only from a distance. He prayed that one day he would find that strength and happiness for life though he was sure he never would. He smiled sadly as he thought of her again and thought that he would never know who she was. He fell into sleep thinking only of the mysterious girl that he had seen. Little did he know that he would find her and that she would change his life forever.
