A/N: It's everyone's favorite 'illicit' couple…I've never done this pairing before. Hopefully you get who it is, and (more importantly) you enjoy. R+R!

The Dream That Never Came True

She wore dress robes that complimented her red hair.

He loved it when she dressed in his house color.

She was escorted by one she did not love, but her companion was smitten with her.

He loved her unavoidable appeal to others.

She snuck coy glances at him from across the punch table.

He smiled, wishing he could dance with her all night long.

Her companion skillfully snuck a kiss in between the slow dance and dinner.

He felt his jealousy grow. His partner sense his unease.

She saw his partner simpering, and felt sick.

He threw her a look of "I'd rather have you groping me, honestly."

She smirked in spite of herself, as her partner began jubilantly dancing.

He shook his head, taking in the pitiful sight his love was subjected to endure.

She caught his eyes sadly.

He recognized their song.

She made a quick excuse to run to the restrooms.

He followed innocently.

She cried on his shoulder, staining his brilliantly white dress robes.

He kissed her until his lungs felt like they were on fire.

She raked her neatly polished fingernails through his silver hair.

He purred into her lips, parting them slightly.

She sighed, and tilted her head back, her eyes fluttering.

They made plans to graduate and elope.

She looks at her daughter getting ready for her first, and sees a youthful reflection of herself.

He looks at his son getting ready for his first, and remembers his poised and younger self.

They both weep for the past and what should have been.

They both regret the paths that lead them astray, far away from where they were supposed to end up.

Together.

In love.

Married.

Away from it all.

A/N: Blah…I wrote this in five minutes (what can I say…I got inspired…). I hope it's not completely slob-worthy.
