Set during Sever and from Cecily's POV...
In the midst of bright lights
And starry nights,
I'm now the party wife –
But it doesn't feel right.
Rhine is sick, dead or dying
While in Vaughn's basement lying.
But how is she
Any different than me?
Even I can see
That at the end of the day
We're all the same way –
Always, a little every second, we're all dying.
Always, a little every second, we're all lying
When we say we're okay
And dance the nights away
In a mirage of sugar and lights we're flying
While we're all still dying.
Time is a commodity,
Growing old an oddity,
And yet here I stand,
Beguiling,
Smiling,
By my man
In this sugary lie
While we all die.
For once the party sweets
Feel wrong against my teeth –
One of the lies of this place,
Too good for this dying race.
I don't like it.
Being party wife was a dream
That had been granted just for me,
But at too great a cost, it seems.
I want them back –
Jenna and Rhine are what this new lease on life lacks –
But I can't have them –
Two more people have slipped through my fingers again –
And as I stand there and drink the sugary punch
As one of this smiling bunch,
I don't like it.
By the time I'm brought some tea
To wash away the punch's sweet acidity
The sugar's taken on a sour taste –
Much as this human race –
But I stand there smiling,
Beguiling,
Lying,
And dying.
Reviews would make my day; thanks!:)
