Finestrino

A/N: Finestrino is Italian for small window.

It's a small window on the fourth floor. Luna's measured them all in her head, and this is the smallest window in the castle.

The glass is plain, no bright colors in elaborate patterns staining the surface. Most people would pass it by without so much as a second glance.

But Luna Lovegood is not most people, and she's always found herself drawn to this spot.

She's passed many lazy afternoons curled up on its sill, face pressed against the cool glass. Some days she'd read, losing herself in words and stories. Others, she'd peer out her small portal, drifting into the world of daydreams.

It's a safe place, a secret place out in the open. But it's her little haven whenever the taunts of "Loony Lovegood" become too much for her to handle.

Perhaps that's why she loves her little window. It's different from the others and easily overlooked or dismissed, something the young Ravenclaw is all too familiar with.

Also, Luna thinks as she traces patterns into the glass, if people took the time to really look at it, they might realize how truly lovely something so simple is.

And maybe, just maybe, someone would look at her and realize the same.

But, really, that is a daydream for another day.
