STAR TREK: ORIGIEN – 'Phantasmagoria'
Season 1, Episode 2.
Chapter 1: Morning Communiqué
(The Origien is at warp 2 travelling through Space…)
The Captain enters the Bridge. Anthi says "Morning, Captain." The Captain replies "Morning, Anthi." Anthi walks over to the Captain with a PADD and a cup of tea. "Your tea and morning report, Sir." The Captain looks at the drink and then at Anthi. The Captain says "One sugar?" Anthi replies friendly "Of course. Just how you like it, sir." Anthi returns to her post. The Captain says "Fantastic" and then he inspects the PADD. "So, where are the others?" Anthi replies, "Take a guess. Their usual port of call, Sir." The Captain looks up and says "Hmm. I wonder if they have heard about the communiqué I received from Starfleet this morning." Anthi replies "Communiqué, Captain?" The Captain looks up at Anthi and says "Starfleet sent the ship a message in the early hours of this morning. The night crew received it and sent it to my quarters. It is about something they wish for us to do"
(In the Mess Hall…)
Shryr, Isry and Halnas are sat at a table talking. Sasung approaches with a tray, which contains Sasungs breakfast. Sasung says "May I join?". Shryr looks up and says, "Of course, Sasung, take a seat." Sasung sits down at the table. Isry says to Sasung "What have you got there, Sasung?" Sasung replies to Isry "An average breakfast for your average Vulcan. Water, followed by Plomeek soup". Isry replies "Isn't Plomeek soup something you eat later during the day?" Sasung looks and raises an eyebrow, replying: "Not at all. It is a nutritious dish, quite appropriate for any time during the day. I do, however, find that what you are eating Ensign Isry, is something meant for later in the day…" Isry looks up as she is about to bite into a Burger. Isry replies: "I'm following the guiding principles of Starfleet, to explore strange new ways." Sasung looks down and eats his breakfast.
The Captain enters the room and addresses everyone. The Captain speaks loudly, saying "Attention. Please. We have received orders from Starfleet Command to participate in an exercise. Every officer and crewman aboard this ship will carry out this exercise. We will be divided into teams and we will participate in a holo-simulation designed to train our skills now that we are all in space. Many of you, in fact all of you may have undergone something very similar. Starfleet have only recently introduced this test and are using us, among three other vessels to test it, to see if it is any good, in simple terms. We are a young crew but one with will, determination and an endeavouring spirit to do our best. I am sure we will perform well in this test. You will all receive your assigned test slot by 10:00 hours."
The Captain looks at the table occupied by Isry, Shryr and Sasung. The Captain says, "Our test will commence in a few minutes. Finish your breakfast and meet me outside holo-deck two in 10 minutes." They look at the Captain and reply "Yes, Sir!"
