Left, right, straight ahead...
There's no way out
You're dead
Usually, with only a few words, the Gaia Library was Phillip's to control. He could find his way anywhere. Even the most gruesome books, with anatomical descriptions of murders like the Zodiac or Jack the Ripper held no fear for him, because he knew where they were.
But with FANG...that disappeared the moment he turned on the memory.
The madness here has locked you up
And now your perfect world is fucked
He ran through the stacks and watched them burn. Burn bright and burn tall. They burned as soon as he looked at them, like Phillip was the ignition, lighting up kindle. Knowledge, wisdom on everything – things that Phillip new topsy-turvey, things he had yet to discover – and he was destroying them.
He looked to the ground and ran – he ran hard.
The stacks still fell, loud and hard and Phillip still heard it, but he didn't dare look back, lest FANG trick him into destroying more. Making him the horrible demon Shoutarou called him, that first night.
Run, Child, Run
Run for your life!
Left, right, straight, Phillip just ran. Ran to outrun the chaos that threatened to suffocate him. Not just the smoke, it was being there. He wanted nothing more than to wake up, back in the garage. To have Akiko hitting Shoutarou on the head with her slipper as his partner went on and on about being hard boiled.
No one here can tell you
Which direction
Is the right one to take
Child for heaven's sakeTwo more bookcases engulfed in fire and Phillip didn't know what to do anymore. His hair ran rampant and he felt tears run down, down his cheeks. Running, always running. But to where? Where could he go?
No one here can tell you who is good or bad,
Don't make a mistake
Child for heaven's sake!
Was he a demon? Was this all his doing? What should he do? What could he do? So many questions that he couldn't answer. Please...save me. Shoutarou!
You're in the labyrinth!
A bookcase fell and all went dark.
There was warmth – a new type of warmth. Not like the terrifying warmth that came with the horrible destruction about him. It was the warmth that came from being in the arms of his partner.
Blinking through the smoke, his face pulled a smile wide at the concered look across Shoutarou's face. "I believed you'd find me, Shoutarou..." He breathed out, weight lifting off his chest. He felt it beside him, the alleviation, the chance to breathe (the freedom that Shoutarou brought to him) "I knew you'd find me."
Shoutarou pursed his lips, squeezing the hand around Phillip's shoulder. "Of course I would." Their hands clasped together and it was like a flash of lighting that the fire was removed; everything was right again (just like Shoutarou would always make it)
Shoutarou's hand yanked him in close, to stare directly in his eyes. Phillip chuckled a little at the movement.
"I will always find you, Phillip."
