Through The Thicke.

CH.1.

In your lifetime it is certain that you will visit a place that you have never been to. Some people visit other countries, some just visit new cities. Wherever you go, it is also certain that you will learn something new. You may learn a new craft, a new fact, maybe even learn the name of a new person. Of all the places you will go, there is one place that you will not… The city of Wen.

The city of Wen cannot be found on a map, globe, or on the internet. You'll never see a commercial , bating you to come and visit. Chances are you'll never meet anyone and have a casual conversation about a recent trip they made to Wen…it simply would never happen. In fact, up until now you have probably never heard of Wen, except that Wen is a hair product that is advertised on the TV. Where do you think they got the idea to name their product Wen? Well not from the City Wen, that's for certain…they've never heard of it. However, despite the fact that no one has ever heard of Wen…it does in fact exist.

Between being too early and fashionably late, under that intriguing bridge that you are too afraid to explore, above the tallest building that you've ever seen, and past the point of no return lies the city of Wen. Which, actually, is not a city at all. It's the size of the U.S. continent with half the population….but let us not dwell on small things.

There are too many big things to tackle.

The city of Wen is a beautiful, vast land. Picture the most beautiful picture of the most breathtaking place that you have seen. Got it? Well Wen is even more beautiful. The skies are a brilliant shade of blue, the grass is vibrant green, the animals are exotic, and the people flourish….At least on one particular side of the Thicke.

The Thicke is the divide. The people of Wen dare not venture through the dense, dark forest that stretches across the land. What's on the other side of the Thicke? Perhaps nothing…perhaps there is no other side and the world drops off. Perhaps monsters with one eye and no sense of direction inhabit the other side. Or, perhaps the only thing on the other side of the Thicke is…just…more Thicke.

The good people of Wen carry on through their lives without ever setting foot into the Thicke…that's how it has always been.

But, do you care to know a secret?

There IS something on the other side of the Thicke…it's a city known (to know one from Wen) as Wer.

It's a complete shithole.

It is much like Wen, as far as space is concerned. However, there is no vibrant green grass or blue skies. Only dirt, and smog, and an undocumented amount of animals that grow no hair. The city of Wer is a home to a type of people that you should be lucky to never cross. They are rude and loud, not altogether intelligent.

Maybe someday you'll meet someone from Wer (not likely). And you'll ask "excuse me sir, are you from Were?". The being from Wer will roll their eyes and say "it's not Were it's Where." Then the person from Wer will slap you and disappear into the night.

Probably. But you'll never know.

The people of Wer do have something in common with the people of Wen…they too have never dared to cross into the Thicke. (Oddly enough, the Thicke is called the Thicke in both Wer and Wen…odd, yes?).

But, as you may have found to be true, things never stay the same for long. Change is inevitable .

And on this day, a Tuesday to be precise, a VERY big change is about to take place.

The change? It has something to do with the beautiful blonde woman, sitting in her castle overlooking the City of Wen. It has an even bigger something to do with the raven haired woman, currently running through the streets of Wer, in search of her dog who ran away.

What is the change? Who are the two women? Is the dog cute?

Well…that's a story for another chapter.
