notes: It's crap. Well, more than usual. Just a thought I had to get out. I"m not even sure what to tag.
You can decide who is who but for me it's referring to Roxas who thinks about Ventus and the kid, Sora.
When you were a kid, there must have been someone who you looked up to.
Be it a superhero, actor, actress, your sister, brother, mom or dad. There was no doubt that you had one.
And a hero you did have.
Not once had you let the opportunity to proudly declare that you'll grow up just like him slip by.
Oh how innocent you were...
It's laughable now.
Yet, the words he said that day was deeply ingrained in your mind.
"Right," he responded with the ever-present smile on his face, and you gazed at him with those wide blue eyes of yours. "You'll be like me someday."
As you expressed your delight, you failed to see the shadows surrounding his eyes.
Now.
Now that you've seen what the world actually has to offer.
You wonder how.
Just how...
How could he say such a thing when he knew it would never happen.
Why?
Why did he have to lie?
You idolized him. Sure.
But you hate him now.
You hated him for not telling that it hurts.
That the pain was too much...
But the one you hated the most is not actually him.
It's you.
You, who didn't see beyond his facade...
You, for thinking you know him best. That you're the one person who understand him the most.
No.
Turns out you didn't.
You clenched your fists harder.
Resenting the way he looked so peaceful when he's not.
That he looks like he's just sleeping. That this is something he'll wake up soon from. That he'll open his eyes and laugh about how it was an accident.
You know better.
He'll never woke up.
And that's what he wanted to happen as well.
.
Inevitable time passed and gradually, the hazy view you had about the world vanished even more.
You were now able to truly perceive the cruel reality of the world you live in.
Lots of things the innocent you wasn't able to see.
Everyday started to feel even more like a chore.
Like a game that had new challenges to face every day.
Yours piled up.
Then the unthinkable happen.
Before you knew it, you unknowingly let yourself be close to them–to the kid whose dog got lost in your backyard.
From then on, he smiled and greeted you whenever he spots you.
And you reciprocated.
Why?
Who knows.
Maybe you're drawn to the innocence he has.
It's something you wish you still have.
With it, living the life you never asked for will be much easier.
Perhaps.
And then the little boy asked...
The same question that the innocent you had asked a long time ago.
"Do think I'll be like you when I grow up?"
It clicked at that moment.
You finally understood.
Him who you used to idolize.
And why he said those words.
Those lies.
It would just be too cruel to crush this kid's dream.
So you pull on a smile.
"We'll see," was all you could ever say to him.
You lied.
At that thought, you smiled wider.
No one needs to know that this one is genuine unlike the ones you showed for some time now.
Because hey...
You did grew up just like him after all.
