The story should begin at the Chamber of Secrets confrontation. Harry stabs the basilisk fang into the Diary Horcrux but it ends up being too late and Tom Riddle is fully corporeal. Fawkes flashes out of the Chamber to find Dumbledore.
Tom is ecstatic at his success and stuns Harry, intent on gloating. As he heads out levitating Harry and Ginny's body, he also stuns Lockhart and Ron and takes them with him.
He heads to the Great Hall to gloat. Dumbledore and Lucius Malfoy show up and Dumbledore forces him to retreat.
When Harry wakes up, he finds out that Ginny Weasley is dead. He tries to comfort Ron but Ron tells him he should have saved her. Harry gets angry and blames Ginny for writing in a dark artifact. Ron and Harry separate and both are equally guilty about Ginny's death. Ron starts to read books about offensive magic.
Harry asks Dumbledore for aid on how to defend himself since he was always going to face threats in Hogwarts. Dumbledore tells him not to worry. Angered by this, Harry starts to search the Chamber of Secrets for hidden knowledge and finds a hidden library, along with a portrait of a crazy Salazar Slytherin. He takes a few book on wandless magic with him to No. 4 Privet Drive.
Meanwhile, outside Hogwarts, word gets out that a teenaged Voldemort is on the loose. The disembodied Voldemort finds out and speeds up his plans. He finds a Death Eater, preferably Malfoy, and they revive him. He then reveals himself as the true Lord Voldemort. The Death Eaters rally around their leader once again and tension rises as everyone waits for the war to fully start up again.
Tom Riddle, retreats to a safe place, knowing he is no match for either Albus Dumbledore or his counterpart, Lord Voldemort. He begins to research obscure magic as he still fully intends to rule magical Britain.
Sirius Black reads about the situation in magical Britain and escapes Azkaban to find Harry. In the scheme of things, Harry kills him in revenge only to find out Sirius was actually innocent. Could put that at the end of third year. Best place for it or maybe Halloween third year.
Conditions:
- Albus Dumbledore is either a manipulative evil bastard, a misguided old hero, or a senile man. Take your pick. Whatever he is, he has to be powerful.
- Ron Weasley and Harry Potter no longer being best mates is not an excuse for Weasley bashing. Ron has to be an intelligent and eventually powerful wizard, if a bit disgusting with his eating habits.
- Tom Riddle eventually messes up things by summoning some eldritch horror from another dimension, causing a magical plague, becoming host to a demon, whatever. He has to do something that threatens everyone.
- Harry Potter learning magic in the Chamber of Secrets is no license for him to be a badass overnight. There has to be actual progress and he should be stomped into the ground several times by Lord Voldemort and Tom Riddle or their followers.
- Death Eaters are not all idiots. Some could be, but not all.
- Whatever pairing but no slash.
- Phoenix tears and basilisk venom has an effect on Harry. Also, Tom Riddle now has Harry's Holly wand so new wand for him.
