When Harry came down for breakfast one morning, he was greeted by a most unexpected sight indeed.
The Potter house was by no means the most conventional of households, especially during the summer holidays when James, Albus and Lily were at home. Albus regularly made small explosions in his room, which, he assured his family, was intentional. Harry wasn't so sure, but he was smart enough to let it slide. James was steadily making his way through all the new products from Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes, a generally noisy and occasionally smelly occupation, although it did generally raise the risk of being pranked. James generally went for Albus and Rose in his pranks and their friend Scorpius Malfoy, who in turn returned the favour with equal vigour.
Lily on the other hand, liked to practise her dubious cooking abilities when she was home. While Harry loved his youngest daughter very much, he was pretty sure that rock cakes were not meant to break teeth. (Hagrid's cooking was positively delightful by comparison) In short, her cooking skills left a lot to be desired.
However, he was not prepared for the sight of his son sitting at the breakfast table wearing naught but the clothes he was born in.
James was busy helping himself to a generous helping of bacon and eggs and Harry was glad that Lily was staying with her friends for the weekend and Ginny had already left for work earlier that day.
"James, why are you sitting there eating your breakfast wearing nothing?" he asked and James quickly jumped to his feet and gave his father a salute.
"I regret to inform you of only partial success of the personal invisibility potion sir!" he said in a perfectly serious voice and Harry resisted the urge to grin.
"It obviously needs some work," he said with amusement, before looking at his son over his glasses. "In the meantime, might I suggest going to your room and seeing if you can reverse the effects?"
"Of course dad!" James replied enthusiastically and he quickly ran upstairs. Harry allowed himself a chuckle.
"Failure of the personal invisibility potion," he chuckled to himself. "I'll have to remember that one."
Upstairs, James smirked at his younger brother and held out his hand. Albus duly filled it with a Galleon coin.
"I can't believe you managed to make it work," Albus whispered and James gave him a wide grin.
"Never underestimate the power of the James Potter charm," he replied and he tapped Albus on the head. "Maybe if you weren't such a Slytherin, you could have it too."
"Probably," Albus said, nodding. By the sounds of it, James hadn't found the hidden camera he had left in the kitchen. Albus was going to have a LOT of fun with the results, assuming the photos developed properly.
