NEW YORK NIGHTMARE

In memory of those who perished nine years ago, as well as those who must live with the scars today. May God bless you all, and, in the words of George W. Bush, may God continue to bless the U.S.A.

Nine years ago today—
Yet it feels like yesterday
It had been like any other day
For a while, everything was okay

Then it happened, without warning
On that bright September morning,
To the public's horrified eyes,
A plane fell out of the blue skies

The plane was quickly losing power
It hurtled straight into a tower
A burst of flames, a thunderous roar—
Unlike anything you've seen before

Then a second plane came into view
It also crashed, into Tower Two
Now two towers were engulfed in fire
As swirls of black smoke billowed higher

It was a literal nightmare come true
Many stood, at a loss of what to do
Some merely stared, with terror in their eyes
While others covered their faces and cried

Others rushed into action, risking their lives
In hopes of saving those who were trapped inside
Before too long, the lofty towers came crumbling down
What was once the glory of New York now lay on the ground

Many precious lives were lost that day
All faith and hope had been blown away
A tragedy that engulfed the entire nation—
An unhealable scar on our generation

Countless prayers were said
Floods of tears were shed
"How could this happen?" some would ask;
"Why did God let this come to pass?"

Unseen, God was already there
His ear caught every cry and prayer
He wept for His children, and even then,
There were some who chose to forget Him.
