I really feel like Maggie has feelings for Alex and she'll ruin Jolex, so I wrote a one shot, because I wouldn't let her ruin Jolex's relationship. Set on Thanksgiving. Season 11 Episode 24.
As Maggie and Alex sat between the swing outside the house, she can feel the heat eminating from his body, touching her brown skin.
The fireworks just started lighting up the sky for thanksgiving but no one said a word.
"Turkey's finally cooked." Jo announced happily, after god knows how many hours it has been.
She saw Alex smiled toward Jo. She has Ethan, she shouldn't be looking at someone's boyfriend but Alex is just so... Alex.
Alex wrapped his arm around Jo kissing her cheek then Maggie suddenly wishes she was Jo.
The guests arrived: Richard, Jackson and Stephanie who Jo invited, then they started eating but Richard stop them.
"We should say what we're thankful with." Richard suggested. "Karev, you go first."
Alex was at the head of the table, Jo on his left, reached out for her hand.
"I'm thankful for meeting someone like Jo, for having a friend like Meredith, Cristina, Maggie, Arizona, Jackson and others. I'm thankful for Dr. Webber's teachings, if it weren't for him and Dr. Bailey, I wouldn't have been a better doctor." Alex looked around his little family and smiled. When he did that, Maggie's butterflies suddenly appeared out of nowhere and his voice didn't help matters much.
"Jo?" Alex said, not letting go of her hand. Got down on one knee and said, "Will you-"
"I love you." Alex's proposal was cut off. Jo opened her mouth but it wasn't her who spoke. Everyone looked at Maggie.
Maggie excused herself, not meaning to blurt it out in front of Alex and Jo, much less in front of everyone.
Alex excused himself, kissing Jo's forehead and running after Maggie.
"What was that?" Alex said when he saw Maggie back at the swing, where they sat for a while.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." Maggie's sobs rang to Alex's ears.
"Maggie, I'm with Jo, you're with Ethan." Alex started but Maggie cut him off before he could say anything more.
"I know. It just sucks, you've been with Jo ever since we've met and you're a nice guy but I can't help it if I have feelings for you. You can't blame me."
Maggie pursed her lips while Alex stand there in front of her, shocked.
"I'm not blaming you, Maggie." Alex said reaching out for her shoulder but she shrugged it away.
"I just want to know one thing." Maggie said, tears still streaming down her face.
"Okay. What is it?" Alex said in a tender voice.
"Do I have a chance?" Then Maggie realized what she was saying, Alex kneeling on one knee in front of Jo earlier answers her own question. "Nevermind."
"I'm sorry Maggie." Alex's hand tried touch her shoulder but this time, she didn't shrug away. She didn't move.
Alex turned around and back to the house, leaving Maggie to settle her thoughts and shake everything off.
Then she drove away back to the hospital.
