He watched as she stared out towards the lake, cherry blossoms slowly fading above her as she sat beneath the boughs of a small tree. He loved the way her hair dirty blonde hair shimmered in the fall sunlight, the way her eyes stared off into space, and the way her name sounded when it resounded in his mind, Luna Lovegood…
He watched her from afar, as she didn't even know he existed, but he didn't care, he admired her for all her eccentric behaviours. She looked over at him as he walked over and sat down next to her; she wondered why he was choosing to sit next to her, but she suspected it was something to do with a dare, like, 'ten galleons if you nick her magazine!' or, 'twenty if you get her to tell you what gnarbles are!'.
She continued to watch him with her intense stare, and he suddenly wondered what he was doing, but resolved to talk to her.
"Hey, Luna, Watcha' doing?" He did his best to sound casual, but it came out forced and awkward. Still she gazed at him, and he had that feeling that he were under a telescope, until finally she answered in her ever-dreamlike voice, "Watching for water-sphinxes…why are you watching me like that Seamus?" The sandy-haired boy realised that he was staring at her with a small smile on his face. "Are you laughing at me?" She looked at him inquisitively, until he snapped out of his reverie.
He smiled wider and said "No, Luna, I just find you fascinating." She looked taken aback for a moment, and then grinned. She continued to tell him all about chimaeras with only two heads, and a hippocampus that lived on land, while he told her about quidditch and a movie he had seen on a muggle television involving an ogre and a donkey. She found this very funny and was subdued for several moments by her laughter.
She adored his Irish accent, and sandy hair, he loved her radish earrings and specrespecs, but they both admired each other's differences between the two.
They sat like that until the sun went down and the moon shone brightly, and talked, or didn't. It didn't matter, because they enjoyed the silence, enjoyed the conversations, and enjoyed the company.
She shivered in the late-autumn wind, and he wrapped his arms around her shoulders. The sudden warmth was comforting to her and she loved it. She soon became drowsy and laid her head on his shoulder, her breathing becoming more and more gentle as she drifted off to sleep. He gazed at her sleeping form until the sun began to rise and she began to wake, and she smiled at him as she yawned.
He smiled back and went to leave, but was held back when he heard her speak, "Seamus…" He turned back to her, now on his feet, her still sitting. She gazed at him with pleading eyes as if she were losing him forever, and he crouched down to her eye level. He spoke in a quiet voice as he lifted her chin with one finger and said "I've always loved you" He leaned in and captured her lips with his, vowing to spend his days sitting beneath the cherry blossom trees doing absolutely nothing with Luna Lovegood.
