Wonder: Auggie Starts High School
Auggie has just recently finished middle school. He is now moving on to high school at Beecher High School. He is very excited about starting high school but also very nervous about fitting in.
When he gets to the school Auggie immediately goes and finds Jack Will.
He asked Jack: "Have you seen any of the students from our class last year?"
Jack responds, "No, but you'll never guess who I saw enrolling last weekend!"
Auggie asked, "Who, did I tell you that my friend Christopher moved back and is going to go to school here?"
Jack shuttered, "Julian, eww, can you believe it? And yeah i'm really excited to meet him."
Just as Jack stated that, Summer walked up to us. She seemed furious when she heard him but didn't say anything about it.
Summer said, ignoring the comment about Julian, "Hey Auggie, hey Jack! Is Christopher here yet? I'm excited to meet him."
They sat down at a table and starting discussing there classes that they were going to be taking this year. They also decided where they were going to meet at for lunch. Just as they started discussing where to meet at lunch Christopher walked up to their table.
Christopher said excitingly " Hey everyone!"
Auggie, Jack, and Summer all said "Hey Christopher"
Summer exclaimed, "It's nice to finally meet you"
Christopher said, " Call me Chris"
After Chris got there they talked more about what classes they were in and the electatives that they were taking this year. Julian was walking around and he noticed the small group and started walking towards them. They didn't notice Julian until he was right behind them.
Julian said nervously, "Hey guys"
"Hi" Auggie mumbled
Jack asked, " I thought you were going to that expensive school across town?"
Julian said, " My dad lost his job so I had to change schools at last minute, it's not like I even wanted to go here."
Summer felt bad at first but when he added the part about not even wanting to go to school here it made Summer mad for some reason. As Julian was starting to notice that he was not wanted he made an excuse that he had to use the bathroom and quickly walked away. Auggie was relieved when Julian left, he thought that high school would be different but maybe not. People around the high school didn't even look at Auggie different, maybe because he went to middle school with most of the kids attending Beecher High School. Auggie was very excited about the first day, until he say Julian. He thought to himself, what if Julian had changed and he wasn't so mean anymore. Then he gave it a second thought and said to himself, " I really hope so or this might be the longest four years of my life." Then the bell rang for first period and the teens went their separate ways
"Good luck guys!" said Jack
" See ya at lunch" Summer said
Christopher and Auggie waved as they headed towards their class that they had together.
Auggie said to Christopher, " How bad could high school really be?"
Just as Auggie said that they walked into the classroom where the teacher told them to find a seat and get ready to learn and at that moment Auggie realized that everything was going to be just fine.
