Okay so Percabeth oneshot! What would happen if Percy had chosen Rachel instead?
Tons of credit towards Iloveyouthismuch16 who helped me incorporate more Percy Jackson-ness into the story!
Annabeth Chase slowly scaled the vine encrested walls of her former friend's pale blue suburban apartment building.
Grab a vine, find a foot space, pull upward, became her mantra as she struggled to finish the dare's deed.
Just as she was about to grasp the targeted window pane, the honey-colored hair girl lost her grip and swung in the night's cool open air, suspended only by her feet.
Barely covering her scream, and a string of curse words, she prayed to every god she could think of to find another vine. When she had done so, she clutched the window pane and swung one foot over it, then the other.
Landing with a muted thud in the room she thought to herself, 'If I get out of this alive, Silena is gonna get some serious-" but her thought was left unanswered as she absorbed her environment for, what seemed, like the first time.
But of course it wasn't.
The bedroom was square. A closet in the corner, a bed in the middle, a mess on the floor, a door that opened, etc, etc. It was just another teenage boy's room, only this teenage boy would never be counted as just another one in Annabeth's book.
This one had a special ballpoint pen on his bedside table. This one's room was covered in only blue. And most importantly this one teenage guy had an Minotaur horn propped in the corner. Oh, how many memories that brought, Annabeth thought to herself.
Because this was Percy. Percy who used to be her best friend. Her funny-as-ever, brave-enough-to-save-the-world, green-eyed, Seaweed Brain of a best friend. Even if everyone said they'd end up with each other but, blushing furiously, they would both proclaimed the thought insane.
But then again this was also the Percy who chose Rachel, over her. After every mission, every secret, every ounce of trust they shared between each other. And it had hurt like nothing else in the world could've.
Apologies were said, but they still grew apart after that. Years of the best friendship and trust on earth shattered.
Shaking her head attempting to clear her mind of her ex- best friend she remembered her mission: take a picture of his Minotaur horn, get to her real best friends, Thalia and Silena, and continue their mindless game of truth or dare.
But somehow she couldn't find the will to take that darn picture and go. Because at that moment when the flash could've, should've, gone off, the sleeping human had to ruin it all.
"uhh...Ann... anna...Annabeth?" Percy muttered sloppily.
Every muscle in her body froze as she stared with both love and hate at that drooling, green eyed, black-haired boy's face.
I'm such an idiot, Annabeth thought as she realized that the muttering boy, Percy Jackson, was the reason why she had agreed to scale a wall covered in vines, risk getting caught by the police for breaking and entering, and possibly attaining scars that not even Apollo might have encountered. She knew this even when she'd accepted, greedily using the dare as an excuse to see him again.
And simply because, no matter how many times Annabeth doubted it, everyone had been right.
He was meant for her, built for her.
Percy was what should've been.
Whew I made it through the first one! Tons of credit towards Iloveyouthismuch16 who helped me incorporate more Percy Jackson-ness into the story!
