A BIG BANG THEORY

"SAM! I said a pinch of gunpowder! A pinch!" Dean howled indignantly, his face begrimed and blackened and hair standing on end.
"I know, Dean, and that's exactly what I used-a pinch!" Sam growled right back, his face also covered in soot and chestnut hair angled in crazy directions. "I swear!"
"Well, your pinch must be bigger than my pinch then because this worked the last time I had to do it!" retorted Dean.
"Dean, I'm telling you, I did it right." Sam huffed. He reached over and grabbed the silver bowl. Uncapping a nearby bottle, he said, "I poured in this. Stirred in this AND that using the bronze knife. Added three drops of this over here and folded them in counter-clockwise. Then I added a pinch of gunpowder just like this..."
There was a loud sizzle followed by a big bang. Black smoke billowed.
Dean coughed and waved his hands around, attempting to dispel the lingering smoke. "SAM!"
"Maybe the gunpowder's bad," Sam squeaked.
"Gimme that bowl!". Dean grabbed the bowl and repeated the steps Sam had just performed.
There was a loud sizzle followed by a big bang. Black smoke billowed.
"See!"
