"Hey Britain, look!" America shoved a large bouquet of flowers in England's face. "The flowers are blooming!"
England sighed. "Please America; get those out of my face while I'm reading."
"But Britain, the flowers are so pretty!" America smiled brightly. When England didn't respond, America dropped his arm back to his side dejectedly. "What are you reading anyways?"
"Newspaper. You're too young to really understand America, but I'm a pretty big guy right now and I need to keep up with current affairs." England smiled.
"You make me sound like a baby." America crossed his arms across his chest and pouted.
England laughed. "Well with a face like that, you can make yourself seem like a baby all on your own."
America smiled and dropped his flowers on the floor. He put his arms across England's lap and rested his head on his arms. "So what's so important about a boring old newspaper?"
England placed his hand on America's head and ruffled his hair a little. "Well, it helps me figure out what's going on with all the other big nations. You're so little; I don't think you really have to worry about it too much."
America sighed. "Can I read it too?"
"Of course you can." England smiled and picked little America up and set him on his lap. America placed his head on England's shoulder and read a little bit of the paper with England in silence.
"Hey Britain, do you think that one day I can grow up to be a big nation like you and big brother France?" America said after a while, his eyelids beginning to droop.
"What? W-why would you want to be anything like that frog?" England's eyes widened and he nearly made America fall off his lap when he jolted upright.
"Well, big brother France is a really big nation, too. Look, see? He's in the paper." America pointed to a large article on the front cover.
There, printed in large black letters, was:
France to Aid Native Americans in War Against England
England's jaw dropped open. "Th-that WANKER!" England threw the paper down and stood up, sending America tumbling to the floor. "He knows those feathered people have been giving us trouble and now that stupid frog is going to help them?"
England ranted as America sat on the floor and watched curiously.
"What's wrong, Britain? I don't get it."
England stopped mid-rant and looked at America sitting innocently on the floor. England knelt next to him and put his hands on America's shoulders.
"Listen to me, America. You're going to have to do your best and make sure you beat the living crimany out of France whenever you see him, okay?"
"Okay!" America nodded and smiled brightly.
"You'll be a big hero if you do, you know." England smiled and pat America on the head.
"Really? A hero?" America liked the sound of those words. "America the hero." He repeated and grinned.
