Disclaimer: I do not own the Silents, they are owned by Steven Moffat and the BBC. I do however own Sh'vlaa's personality and Nadia, my original character.
This is intended to be a one-shot. It's an excerpt from a story I've been working on for ages. Enjoy!
"Wanna play some games?" she asked eagerly, grinning broadly up at him.
The humanoid agreed with a slight tilt of his head down to her and purred happily. Quickly, she dashed passed him from where they stood together in the kitchen, trotting into the entertainment room to select the game before he had a chance to choose, narrowly missing his grasping hands. Giggling to herself when she got to the console, she selected a racing game, the Silent growling lowly and pinching her side when he walked passed to sit on the couch, controllers in hand.
Smirking at him, she reached for the T.V. remote and turned it on, changing the channel and adjusting the volume before sitting next to him.
"You will lose."
"Na-ah, I'm better at racing games, remember?" she stated smugly as she made sure her Eye-Drive was securely in place.
He glared down at her, "How could I forget?"
Sniggering, she pinched the side of his leg, Sh'vlaa hissing and flinching slightly, "Did you just make an unintentional pun about your species, or were you actually being serious?"
The alien's back straightened, his eyes glinting, "I was being serious. However, you do boast excessively . . ."
"Oi! I do not! –" He tilted his head to the side and purred knowingly – "Oh alright, fine, I do. But you always win! Of course when I actually beat you, I'm going to boast."
Nadia looked away from him and crossed her arms over her chest, pretending to sulk. Sh'vlaa was not fooled though and pinched her side, tickling her when she didn't respond to him. Batting his hands away so she could breathe again, he relented and she sat up straighter, narrowing her eyes challengingly up at him, "Bring it on, alien man."
"As you wish, girl."
Starting the game, she selected the track and they chose their bikes, both choosing models with a high speed capacity. Revving her bike, she smirked at him, the Silent growling in annoyance. The race began and they sped off, Nadia scoring a speed boost and zipping passed his character, her own turning back briefly to mock his.
"I detest this game . . .," he muttered beside her.
She snorted and quickly shielded her characters' behind with a green shell, "It's 'cause it's so happy and colourful . . ."
"What are you implying?" he hissed, his character smashing roughly into hers, sending it down a deep chasm.
"Oi, you mongrel! I was only implying whatever you thought I was . . ."
He growled at her and she smirked, impatiently waiting for her character to be rescued. Now in eighth place, Sh'vlaa leading, she hastily sped off, quickly grabbing items from the cubes. Spamming the king mushroom, she zoomed passed him and did an elegant flip on the jump, only to be hit by his red shell a second later, putting her back in third.
"Bloody friggin' . . .," she grumbled, glaring at the screen when he trilled at her misfortune.
"I did say that you would lose."
"It's only the second lap!" she shrieked, lining up behind him to aim her green shell at his smug ass.
"I see what you are doing and it will not work," the alien hummed, zipping quickly to the left when she fired her shell.
"Drat," she mumbled, but moved behind him again to use his slipstream, speeding passed the disgruntled Silent.
The finish line was just ahead, the two neck and neck, both doing wheelies in an attempt to gain more speed . . .
"Damn it!"
His character had won by a hairsbreadth.
"I swear you cheat, Sh'vlaa," Nadia grumbled, attempting to drown out his happy trilling.
"And you are a sore loser."
The girl pouted sourly, but then grinned toothily up at him, "I will win this time," she declared.
Sh'vlaa snorted but allowed her to choose another track.
Fin.
