Kikyou's POV
WARNINGS:: Implied character death, Implied Kikyou/Inuyasha
Disclaimer:: I do not own Inuyasha, Fake Wings (Bittersweet Version), or See-Saw.

This is a drabble-songfic based on 'Fake Wings (Bittersweet Version)' by See-Saw. The lyrics are included, but I do recommend listening to the song, as the music does a good job of setting the mood for this drabble-songfic. Please be aware, This contains hints of Kikyou bullying, but I eventually let her off the hook, and I'm really mean to a certain male hanyou in this as well. This Drabble is a little longer than the one I put out earlier today, but it's still pretty small.

Kikyou stood before a familiar tree again, surrounded by wildflowers and the Spring breeze, but her heart was still locked in Winter. Soundless to her own ears, she began to sing thoughtlessly. Her voice rose and carried her feelings on the crisp refreshing wind,

"Shine bright morning light, Now in the air the spring is coming. Sweet blowing wind, Singing down the hills and valleys."

Full of sorrow and sadness, her song of mourning fell on a fresh grave along with her tears, but the one who was meant to hear it was no longer in this world,

"Keep your eyes on me, Now we're on the edge of hell. Dear my love, sweet morning light."

Deep in her heart, she had hoped this would have been happy. So long had she desired this, to go with him. But now that he had gone ahead of her, the reality was completely different from her hopes. Her breath hitched in her throat,

"Wait for me, you've gone much farther. Too far."

Her body shook as she wept endlessly. Kikyou wished for nothing more than to follow him, but she never expected to experience his death. Not his... He was so strong and stable. Perhaps if he'd been a full youkai it could have been avoided, or perhaps his death would have been quicker and less painful if he'd been a full human.

She repeated the tuneless song that haunted her with truth, and curled up next to his grave to weep and be closer to him. She had been foolish to make her request of him, and now she hesitated to follow.

Turning her face into a scowl, Kikyou scoffed. She didn't want to die, she wanted peace. Now that she had tasted it during life, she wanted more. Her chance for peace with him was ripped away from her with his life moments after she'd tasted the sweet vengeance of killing that spider, and it left a bitter taste in her mouth.

She laughed mockingly at herself, a bittersweet sound, and drove the knife into her chest.
