Ravens.

Sora had never liked the dark feathered things, with their dirty black feathers and glossy beaks. They were never residents of the Destiny Islands as long as he had lived there, who's only avian's were of the tropical variety, in vibrant greens and deep reds, who always silenced when darkness fell.

His first meeting with them was in Traverse town, where he has mistaken them for a small airborne variety of Heartless, carefully keeping renaissance at him from a distance. His mistake had only been discovered when Leon and Yuffie discovered him slashing at a flock of the dark-feathered things, and learned that they were seemingly one of the only animals indigenous to the in-between world. Still, he had always kept his eyes on them. With their dark coat and beady yellow eyes glazed over with eternal hunger, they looked too much like Heartless to relax around. It wasn't until he had visited the Heartless' perverted pseudo-world had he discovered why;

No matter what the world, in what situation, the dark birds were fixated on him. And if it weren't him, it was his mysterious key-shaped weapon they eyed. At first, he had put it off as the bird's natural fixation to shiny things, but it didn't take long for him to see the difference. In any shape or form, whether Kingdom Key, Jungle King, Oblivion, Ultima Weapon, or Fatal Crest, the ravens had a strange fixation on it and its power.

Maybe it was this that made it easy to swallow that Maleficent's preferred pet was a raven. He had always thought the dark sorceress akin to the black-feathered birds, for they both radiated a sinister aura about them. He was even less suspicious of the sorceress than he was the feathered creatures, for at least he was sure that she was out to get him.

Many of his friends thought him mad for distrusting the birds; even Kairi thought him overacting. Riku himself was distrustful of the winged vermin, albeit for a different reason. But the birds proceeded in making him anxious; nervous, aware and above all, frightened. They stalked him everywhere, like physical manifestations of the Heartless, always chasing, paying heed to none else.

Maybe that was why he wasn't surprised when he learned Ravens had invaded the Destiny Islands. It was too much to hope that his journey was over; too much to hope that he had finally become rid of the darkness. To him, they represented the true Darkness; the darkness he was perpetually fighting. So long as he kept on fighting, living, protecting, he would never be rid of the Darkness.

Rid of the Ravens.

A storm was coming, that he knew for sure. And with that storm would come Ravens; Darkness, Heartless, all to Destiny Islands. He could not simply run, for the storm would follow and destroy the very thing island he ran from to protect. No, he had to face his darkness, and be sure he was rid of it one and for all.

Sora hated Ravens.
