Disclaimer: Not mine

Notes: Takes place early in the series. (Also, I'm going with Takku instead of Tekku now. I don't know why I thought it was Tekku for so long; by the time my brain finally realized that wasn't the accepted spelling I was busy with two WIPs and decided to keep it until I was done and could make a 'clean break', for lack of a better term. /tangent)

"Look at you; you're soaking wet!"

Sion gave him the look that in any other situation would have guilted Domon to ease up on the scolding, but he refused to give in today. He hadn't been worried when Sion was taking longer than usual getting home from his job. He hadn't been worried when it started to rain. But when the rain became a full-fledged thunderstorm-- and Sion was supposed to have been home an hour and a half ago-- Domon grabbed an umbrella and ran for the door.

He found Sion on the doorstop, completely drenched, watching the storm with an expression he'd seen on people admiring sunsets.

"Who in their right mind worries everyone sick so they can go play in the rain?! Not to mention we're in the middle of a thunderstorm, what if a bolt of lightning had hit you?"

"But lightning hits the tallest--"

"Don't interrupt me, Sion." It was hard to stay mad at Sion, especially when he was still looking at him that way... but the fact that he'd stayed out so late without even so much as calling them remained.

"You're right. I'm sorry." Sion smiled uneasily, fingers wrapping around the towel Domon had given him earlier. "I've just never seen anything like it-- the lightning's only there for a second, but it lights up the entire sky." The smile came easier this time. "And the city's so different when there aren't any people out there. I noticed things I never did before because of the crowds."

Domon was about to ask him what was so exciting about a storm... but of course Sion would be excited about a storm. He'd be excited about anything that he'd never seen before while shut up in that damned lab.

He frowned, sitting next to his damp friend. The guilt was much too close to what he'd felt when Takku had told him about Sion's life before he'd met them for Domon's liking. He had to think of some way to make it up to him...

"Domon-san?" Sion blinked at him. "Are you okay? You looked lost in thought for a moment there."

"I'm fine." He pulled Sion to his side, no longer caring if he got wet himself in the process (or if anyone came in and thought the gesture was a romantic one). "And I was thinking that after I make some tea to warm you up, we could do some puddle splashing."

He could feel Sion's eyes on him as he moved into the kitchenette. "What's puddle splashing?"

"After the rain's stopped, you go stomping around in the biggest puddles you find." Domon put the water on boil. "It's what I did whenever it rained when I was a kid."

Domon felt himself relax when Sion immediately agreed... and something else when he beamed at him over the towel. But he decided not to worry about it for now, merely content to listen to the rain outside.
