Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar: The last Airbender … blah blah blah
I wrote this last evening, so don't be too critical about it. It's kinda like "Nighmares and Daydreams", but there is absolutely no connection, it just came to my mind...
Enjoy the story, Moehre
Just a blind, little girl
The eclipse was just a few days ahead and they all couldn't sleep well - even Sokka.
Iroh was often awake at night and drinking tea - his small campfire lit the whole place in a dull light. Sokka was snoring in a trembling way and turned from side to side. The few hours Katara was able to sleep, she lay in a light, dreamless sleep right next to Zuko, who was sleeping deep, but troubled with nightmares.
Aang was actually not sleeping and if he does he had strange nightmares and was always tossing and turning on Appa. Or he was in the Spirit World searching for support.
And Toph was watching this all, she couldn't sleep as well, but not only because of the upcoming final battle, but because she was worrying about her friends. They just didn't sleep enough - she could handle that, but would they be able to fight properly?
Aang was sitting on a nearby stone, she could tell he was in the Spirit World; he was sitting in his meditation position, breathing steady, his heartbeat seemed miles away.
His eyelids fluttered open, the glowing of his arrows faded away and he sighed deep.
She got up and went towards him. "Hey", she stated and sat down next to him.
"I talked to Avatar Roku … again", he told her, his voice deepened, "Young Avatar, everything is now in you friends' and your hands. Use the eclipse wisely." He sighed once more but Toph said nothing.
"We have the warriors of the Water Tribe, of the Earth Kingdom. You all help me, but in the end everything depends on me - I have to kill the Fire Lord. And before that I have to get along with Azula, come through thousand of Fire Nation soldiers! I got you all, I know, but we are all kids, teenagers… I shouldn't need to do this.", he scolded and stood up, walking in a small circle.
"Heck, I'm twelve years old! A kid, not even a teen! I can hardly stand a fight against Azula, the Fire Lord's daughter, and I have to face BOTH of them! I am the Avatar, but an Airbender at heart, always trying to avoid a fight. I am just a little turtleduck standing against an army of dragons…" His words faded away.
She finally spoke, "Yeah, and I'm just a blind, little girl."
Aang smiled and immediately felt better, he knew it was her way to say "You are more worth than you admit".
She nudged him into the shoulder, "I'll go and get some sleep, you should, too."
You know, R&R ...
