This is a drabble I wrote a while ago for the faytxalbel comm. I thought I'd post it here.
Summary: Sex is one thing. Sleeping together is another. Albel angsts.
Not That Easy
In a romantic story, just being held in your lover's arms as you slept would banish all fears, all demons, all night terrors. A sense of comfort and ease would wash over you and you would finally reach the peace that you had been seeking.
Albel had never believed in these stories. He had never slept with Fayt. He had had sex with Fayt, he had banged Fayt, he had fucked Fayt, and hell, he might even have made love to Fayt at one point –
– but he had never slept with Fayt. When they were done Albel toss Fayt firmly out of the bed and Fayt would give Albel this questioning glance, but Fayt still left. The boy still knew which boundaries he could push and which ones he couldn't.
But everyone slips. One time, just one time, Albel fell asleep after sex. He had been tired, he hadn't been thinking, it was too irritating to kick Fayt out – any number of excuses would suffice. In the end Fayt and Albel had actually slept together for the first time. Albel didn't even know how Fayt slept; if he was a tosser or a rock.
All Albel knew was that he dreamt of flames, suffocation, and the dead weight of a burnt corpse on his chest. He screamed and woke with someone on top of him and he shoved the weight off with his right arm, instinctively knowing that his left would not be able to move.
Fayt fell to the floor in a tangle of limbs and confusion, eyes cracking open suddenly when he hit the floor with a bang. Albel shot up and sat there, breathing heavily, before ordering Fayt to get out in the low and dangerous voice that Fayt knew what Albel about to lose control and not wanting to admit it.
Confused and half-asleep, Fayt left, leaving his lover shivering alone in a swiftly cooling bed.
In brief flights of fancy Albel had hoped that Fayt's presence alone might heal him, that just having someone there would fix everything.
Now he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that things weren't that easy.
