Zutara: The Real Story

"Why aren't you happy?" Aang yelled to Katara angrily. They were in the South Pole in one of the tents and Aang was pointing his fingers at Katara.

"I gave you everything. I told you my feelings and I thought you accepted them full-heartedly, but look at you. I take you here on a mini "vacation" to surprise you and carved you a necklace and made your whole family come here just to hear you say "I can't do this"? I don't understand you at all", Aang yelled at her. He angrily stomp on the floor and sighed. He looked at the mute Katara and looked at her sadly, waiting for her response. Katara started crying and made muffled noises. Aang sighed even louder, and then he went by her side.

"I just want to know why you're ignoring me. You never even told me why you said no. I wish you just never tell me about how you feel or anything!" he said. He put his hand on her arm, but she brushed it away.

"I miss you, Katara. What's going on with you?" he asked her. Katara put her hands to her face and yelled.

"I don't know! I'm so confused!" she yelled.

"Confused about what, Katara? What?" Aang yelled. Katara finally looked at Aang straight in the eyes.

"About us!" she yelled. Then she stormed out of the tent, leaving Aang hurt and confused. She went towards the end of the island and looked out to the sea. Why?, she thought to herself. Why am I so confused? She screamed out angrily out at the sea. Aang came out of his tent and walked towards Katara.

"Katara, I want you to be happy. Just talk to me and I'll see if I can fix this," he said. Katara looked at him with tears overflowing in her eyes.

"I'm sorry Aang, but you just can't fix everything." she said before she fled again. Aang sat there crying. Sokka went to him and put his hand on his arm.

"Just give it time Aang. She'll come around," he said before he left.

"I don't think she will," Aang muttered.

The next day, Aang woke up and tried to find Katara, but she was nowhere to be found. Then he ran up to the sea and saw her leaving on one of her father's ships. She saw him and they both stared at each other. Then, Aang went on his glider and flew up to the ship and caught up with her.

"So you were going to leave without saying goodbye!" he said. Katara looked down.

"Aang, I need to do this…alone." she said.

"Wh…when will you be back," he asked. Katara looked at him and slightly sighed.

"I…I don't know" she said. "But I need to do this without you."

Aang looked at her with tears in his eyes.

"Fine! Go if you want," he yelled. He stared at her one more time and then fled back with his glider. Katara looked on with sadness and anguish.

"I'm sorry Aang. I have to do this." she said. A sailor came out from his post and asked her where they were headed too.

"The fire nation. There's someone I need to see."
