One Hell of a butler

"Dead" thought the raven hair boy as he surveyed the burning and bloody scene before him; "Everyone, all of them are gone" a sole tear leaked from the boy's eyes and many more soon followed as he watched his home burn. He tried to hold them back, but failed. "Why", he asked out loud in no more than a whisper as a gloved hand rested on his shoulder. He slapped it away. "Why…" he asked slightly louder, turning to gaze up at the older man behind him with sad eyes "Why does this keep happening?".

The man, Sebastian Michaelis, as the boy had named him, stood just behind Ciel dressed in his usual black suit, even though it was the middle of the night. He did not answer. He simply stood and watched his young master cry. He ran a hand through his jet black hair and dusted soot off his clothes before straightening them. Sebastian was covered with ash as was his master, and wanted nothing more at that moment than to remove himself from the mess. "This seems to be a re-occurring event" he mused and his red eyes shone and a smile played at his lips. "I wonder if it will take longer to re-build this time." He took out his pocket watch and checked the time, "1:30 am" he said quietly enough so that his master couldn't her.

The boy, known more formerly as Ciel Phantomhive, bent down and picked up a fragment of broken mirror. The first thing he saw was his eyes. The left one was its normal deep blue, the right showed the violet lines of a pentagram, a constant reminder of the contract that bound him to Sebastian. "I'll need something else to cover this now, seeing how my eye patch is in cinders" he thought with an amused smile. He took a few shaky steps past Sebastian and stepped on something hard. He lifted his foot and picked the small item up quickly, stuffing it into one of his pockets. Ciel took a few more staggering steps and was steadied by Sebastian who offered him a handkerchief.

"Th-thank you" he said in a hoarse voice as he accepted it and wiped his eyes "But go where?" he asked the man quietly. He took a few deep, shaky breaths, coughed and blew his nose before returning his hands to his pockets.

"Away from here for a time" came the cool reply from a voice as smooth as silk. Sebastian then proceeded to scoop Ciel up in his arms ignoring the faint protests from the young boy thinking of how small he was. "Sleep for now my young master, all will be well" the voice said again.

Ciel, rather from that voice or Sebastian's warmth, was suddenly very tired. His eyelids began to droop and he was having trouble thinking clearly, never thinking the demon could make him sleep. "Sebastian" the boy yawned "I must be back soon…" he said as sleep began to take over his mind completely, all the while he was holding onto the small plastic ram.

Sebastian smiled "Yes, my lord" he watched the young boy drift to sleep in his arms, the thoughts of the fire banished from his mind for the time. Sebastian watched him for a moment before he bounded off, at speeds far too quickly as to be humanly possible, towards his temporary home until the mansion could be re-built. "After all, I'm simply one hell of a butler."
