"Maka!" Maka's eyes flutter, the voice being incorporated into her dream.
"MAKA!" Maka's eyes shoot open with the realization that someone is screaming her name.
"MAKA!" It's Soul. Maka rushes from her room, disregarding that she's still in her pajamas, and dashes into Soul's room. He's tossing and turning, still screaming her name. Maka rushes over and grabs his shoulders.
"Soul, wake up!" She shakes him awake and his screaming stops.
"Maka?"
"Soul, you were shouting for me. I was scared you were hurt." Maka's eyes tear up a little.
"I'm sorry, it was just a nightmare." Soul replies quietly. Now that she's calmed down, Maka notices that Soul is shirtless, and she can clearly see the giant scar running across his chest.
"Maka?" Soul reaches out and grabs her wrist, causing her to look back up at his crimson eyes. "Could you…stay?" She blinks for a second before realizing what he means. Maka blushes a little, but nods and crawls into bed next to him. Soul instantly wraps his arms around her and pulls her to him, making her stomach flip and her toes curl.
"You're my meister." He whispers.
"Soul…"
"Promise me you'll never replace me with another weapon."
"Of course!" Maka responds in surprise. Soul smiles a little then pulls her closer, tucking her head under his chin, and she slips her arms around his waist.
"Soul?" Maka asks quietly.
"Yes?"
"Was your nightmare about me finding another weapon?"
"Yes." Soul replies after a long silence.
"I would never do that." Soul responds by tightening his grip around her, and they both fall asleep.
The next morning
Maka's eyes slowly open to see Soul's red ones, staring at her. She blushes, suddenly becoming self-conscious and aware that she's in bed with Soul. Neither of them says anything for a while. Maka's eyes keep flicking down to Soul's scar – the scar that's her fault. After long enough, she reaches out and touches it, and Soul sucks his breath in sharply.
"I'm sorry." Maka says, pulling her hand away quickly. But Soul grabs her hand and puts it back, leaning closer them gently pressing his lips on hers. He pulls back and searched her face for some response and her slight smile tells him to continue. He kisses her again, deeper this time, letting his tongue run over her lips, eliciting a small gasp from Maka. He pulls away again and presses his forehead to hers.
"I love you, Maka." He says, unsure of what she'll think, but unable to not say it. She hesitates.
"I-I love you too, Soul."
