So hello! As this top part has been re-formatted and changed, you can guess I have gone through this and edited parts of the writing, grammar, etc and added a few sentences in to make the thing flow a bit more. Yes, this was one of my first stories so the plot is a little cliche and it is quite low-quality but hey-ho. I won't remove it as it was one of my starting stories and so on.
So yes, I do not own Fairy Tail. Enjoy! (please :D )
*Lucy's POV*
I walked into the guild, narrowly missing a flying beer bottle heading for my head. I noticed my boyfriend sitting down at a table, by himself and removed from our usual company. Frowning, I walked over to him and slung my arms around his neck. He tensed.
"What?" Gray asked coldly. I was slightly taken back but I still smiled softly.
"Hey." I said my arms still relaxed around his neck, leaning against his back softly. I could imagine blowing on the little hairs on the base of his skull and seeing him freak out, but I decided against it.
"Hi." he replied. We stayed like that for a bit, until Gray shrugged my arms off him. I stepped back and then moved next to him, sitting down. He stared in front of him, completely ignoring me.
"What do you want?" he finally asked. I sighed, wondering why he was in such a bad mood.
"I just want to be with you, silly." I said, poking his arm. His face stayed emotionless. 'I wonder what's wrong.' I thought. I had never seen him like this before.
"Leave me alone." he growled. He bowed his head, his hair falling over his eyes. I shook my head, stating that I wanted to stay. His head snapped towards me and I was fixed by a glare.
"I said, leave me alone!" he said. I reeled back at the anger behind his voice. By now, I felt some of the guild's attention on us, their inquiring gazes turning to our table.
"B...but Gray?" I stammered. He stood up and glared at me, his whole body tense.
"Go! Run away! Like you always do! Because you are a weakling!" he shouted, spitting the words out of his usual kind mouth. I reached out my hand to him but he slapped it away harshly. The normal warmth in his eyes was gone now, replaced by a burning red fire that clouded his vision.
"Go away. You are weak. See! You are crying!" he shouted as I stepped away slowly. It only took me seconds to turn and run for the door.
I ran into my apartment, and collapsed on my bed, the tears spilling out silently. I stayed there all night, crying myself to a state of emptiness. Then I rested my head on my pillow, and made a silent vow to the man I loved.
'Just watch me, Gray. I will show you I'm not weak.'
I woke up in the morning, lying on a cold, damp pillow. I sat up, realizing I had slept in my clothes. I got up and headed towards the shower. I let the warm soapy water flood over my dry skin, before getting out and wrapping a towel around myself. Grabbing a piece of toast, I dried myself off and changed out of my ruffled clothing, instead putting on a simple white skirt and blue blouse. As I left my house, I grabbed my blue jacket and boots, quickly putting them on.
I took my time walking to the guild, enjoying the wonderful sun beating down on me. I gently opened the large wooden doors, trying not to make a sound while walking over to the job board and selecting a well-paying slip of paper. I headed over to the white-haired, smiling girl at the bar, the paper grasped in my hand.
"Hey, Mirajane. Please can I go on this job?" I said, attracting the girl's attention. The bar-woman turned around from the glasses and smiled kindly at me.
"Oh Lucy! Sorry, I didn't notice you there," She said as I shrugged and gave her the notice. Her eyes widened."You want to take this one? Alone?!". I nodded, and Mirajane sighed, resigned. She sighed the book with a random pen and handed me the notice back. I muttered 'thank you' and walked out the door.
*Gray's POV*
I walked into the guild, and looked around for a certain blond but as far as I looked, I couldn't see the little splash of sunshine in the guild. I sighed and walked over to Mirajane, taking a seat at the bar slowly.
"Hey Mira, please can I have an ice water please?" I asked. Mira nodded, and headed off. She came back a bit later and gave me my drink. I started drinking it when…
"Hey, ice freak. Have seen Lucy?" Natsu asked, his pink hair messed up as usual, with a strange look on his face. I shook my head, but I heard Mira gasp. I looked at her and cocked my head in confusion.
"She got a job this morning" she said, her face suddenly falling into sadness. I stood up from the stool, the piece of furniture falling down with a loud thud from the force.
"Mira, which one?" I asked. The woman hid her face in her hands, sighing and shaking her head in worry.
"I knew, I knew! I shouldn't have let her gone. Especially by herself!" she cried. I grabbed her shoulders, not caring about what the others thought. I would apologize later.
"Mira! Which one?!" I growled. She looked me in the eyes, before closing them and looking down.
"The Maarten Gang….." she whispered. I released her and stepped away from the bar, my hands falling to my sides dejectedly. I placed my head in my hands and shook it.
"Hey! Ice princess! What are you doing?" Natsu asked. I carried on shaking my head but still answered.
"She took the Maarten job. The one the Rune Knights gave to our guild specially. And she's gone by herself." I mumbled. He inhaled sharply, then grabbed me by the collar of my t-shirt, pulling me jerkily in front of his face.
"Then go after her!" he growled. I shook my head.
"You go after her. I can't face her, not after yesterday." I said, staring up at him. His eyes showed how confused he was so I had to explain.
"I-I called her weak..." I told him. Natsu's hand lit up in flames, burning my shirt and me. Pulling myself away from him, I froze my shirt before turning to stare at the Dragon Slayer.
"You deserved that then. Lucy is not weak, and you know that. You know about my feelings but I accepted that she loved you. So you better not make her cry or else. Now! Get after her!" He shouted. My eyes widened and I nodded. I got up and ran out the door, listening to the cry from Mirajane about the location. Nodding and accepting this, I ran to Hargeon.
*Lucy's POV*
I walked through the large seaside town, my body un-naturally tense as I kept an eye open for the pair of criminals I set out to defeat. By now I was near their rumoured base and I could feel the air thickening around me and before long I found myself in front of a large shipping storage building, its green walls towering over me, causing shadows to spring all around me.
I looked around before noticing a door and heading towards it. Pushing it open, I walked through the door and came face-to-face with two middle-aged men. They were substantially larger than me and I resisted the urge to back away. Two pairs of luminous green eyes stared at me from the darkness.
"Ooooo. Look here Johna. It seems a nice looking girl got a bit lost!" the brown-haired man other, Johna I guess, grinned unnervingly, his black hair swinging around his ears as he lent down towards me.
"My name is Lucy from Fairy Tail," I declared, reaching into my pocket with my left hand. "And I shall be the one to beat you!". I held up my right hand, showing them the mark. Johna snickered.
"Think we should have some fun with this girl, Jacques?" he asked. Jacques nodded and I jumped away from the men towards the door. I picked a key and held it in front of me.
"Open, the Gate of the Maiden!" I shouted, opening up the maid spirit's gate with a sense of determination. The pink-haired spirit popped out of the ground gracefully, and with a silent nod to me, went back underground. I unraveled Fleur D'etoiles and struck out in front of me with the blue whip.
The brothers stayed unmoving. Virgo appeared behind them, jumping high into the air.
Johna exploded into action, screaming and throwing something at my spirit, causing her to explode in a shower of dust with a simple throw. I froze, retracting my whip to my side.
Jacques held out his hand. "You've had your fun, darling," He declared. "But now it is time to sleep."
My grip on the spirit-world item vanished as I fell to the ground in a veil of darkness.
A few hours later
*Gray's POV*
I ran straight into the shipping building, holding no consideration for the door or any tenants inside. It did not take me long to notice the shifty-looking pair in the corner of the hall.
Jacques and Johna. They turned towards me and grinned. I gritted my teeth.
"Ah, so Blondie's friend has come?" The black-haired brother said, chuckling under his breath.
"Where is she?" I shouted. A short bark of laughter came from the other man. I looked at him and he held out a familiar blue jacket towards me, its fabric roughened and torn in places. I felt my eyes widen and growled at him from the bottom of my throat.
"Blondie is taking a very long sleep currently. Of course, she may never wake up if her injuries get worse." Jacques said, smiling evilly."We had a little fun with her after she fell unconscious, but you just had to arrive before the best part!"
With that, my anger from the oast few days broke and I felt power rushing through my veins. I clasped my hands together with force and shouted.
"Ice Make: Geyser!" I brought my hands down and onto the floor. It erupted with ice, pieces flying in all directions as the cold substance froze over the floor. A tower rose quickly between the two brothers and they flew apart with no sounds.
"Bombada!" One of the men shouted in mid-air, throwing a small item towards me with surprising speed. It flew towards me and I rolled away from it with seconds to spare. As it passed my eyes, I saw the curved, sharp edges of a shuriken fly by. The force of the ground as I rolled knocked the breath from me and I stood to my knees.
A sudden pain erupted down my arm. I cried out, clutching the limb with my hand, attempting to ignore the sudden but smaller flow of blood from my flesh.
The brothers laughed. "Oh, did I forget to say?" He taunted. "You cannot lose these weapons."
"Ice Make: Saucer!" I shouted, throwing the spell at the ice tower. The ice structure shattered in a shower of glistening frozen water and they showered onto the gang members below. The shards made contact and paused the persons for merely seconds.
"Ice Make: Prison!" I cried, slamming my hands together with enough force I could muster. A large structure of ice formed around the two figures, glistening in itself. The gang was surrounded by an ice cage.
A sudden shout caused one of the prisons to shake. "Sleep!" The brown-haired man cried out. "SLEEP!"
"Not working." I muttered, watching as the same man slumped against the cold walls around him, his own eyes falling. 'It must have reflected off the ice!'
'Lucy!'
I looked around frantically, trying to pick out any figures in the strange darkness. I ran around, before noting a figure tied up next to the wall by chains around their wrists. As I stepped closer, I recognized the distinct pink Fairy Tail mark on the figure's hand. Light cuts and a slash around their waist littered their body and I turned away from the injuries quickly. The amount of blood was hopeful in its small amounts. I lent down next to the prisoner and choked as I took in her features.
It was Lucy! I quickly unshackled her hands and she dropped into my arms. I picked her up bridal-style and stood up. Her eyes fluttered open.
"Gray?" came a softly spoken voice from her throat. "You lost your t-shirt..."
She faded back into unconsciousness as the effect of the day took a toll on her body. I looked down at her sadly in her pain but turned around and ignored the ice prisons.
I ran out of the building, with Lucy still in my arms.
Later that day
At the Guild
I staggered through the door, letting the door make a crashing noise and ignoring the nagging pain in my legs which had not led me up. All of the guild's attention turned to me. A familiar group of mages started to head towards me, Erza walking ahead of the group.
"Please help her…" I pleaded. Natsu ran over to me and took Lucy in his arms before turning and shouting for the infirmary. Erza turned towards me, her features unusually softer and I looked to her. "The brothers are still in cages, you have to get the Ru-"
I breathed out and fell to the floor before the Knight could catch me, the darkness taking my vision.
*Lucy's POV*
I slowly opened my eyes, ignoring the sharp twinge from my head. The light of the room blinded me for a bit, but I got used to it quickly. Shifting on the bed, I saw a black-haired boy sitting next to me. I smiled. It was Gray. I lifted up my hand and gently stroked his hair. We stayed like that for a while, until Gray finally woke up.
He jumped up suddenly and my hand fell from its restful place. He stood there for a while shell-shocked and then leaned over, clasping me in a huge hug.
"I'm sorry. I am really sorry." he said, in my ear. I let him go and put my hands on either side of his face, smiling.
"It's not your fault." I said, he opened his mouth to reply but I silenced him with a finger.
"You were the one who rescued me. So you are not to blame." I said simply. He looked at me with sad eyes and I smiled. Pulling his cheeks slightly, I caused the man to make a disgruntled noise. I laughed as he pouted and rubbed his cheeks. I sat up in the bed, and looked around. I was in Fairy Tail's infirmary.
I turned my attention back to Gray as he still sat there, silently. I pulled him into a hug. When I finally released him, he had a look of happiness. I smiled, and leant in for a kiss. Gray leant in too and we met, our lips savouring the feeling. We pulled back, a look of pure happiness on my boyfriend's face.
I winced, looking down at my waist. I saw a multiple of bandages wrapped around me. Gray noticed my pain, and gently pushed me back against the bed. I smiled at him. I watched as he stood up and climbed into the bed next to me. He wrapped his arms around me and I snuggled against him. "Go to sleep, Lucy."
And I fell asleep in a moment of bliss.
So, this is the slightly amended version of MOBINT :D The fighting scenes are slightly longer, but as you can guess from my other Fairy Tail story, magic battles are not my area of expertise. Sword battles, on the other hand, are slightly better!
Please review, I like knowing your opinions! Thank you for reading, and have a good day!
The second chapter can be missed as it is meant to be slightly comical, but also explains why Gray was so angry (in a bad way) during the day.
