Disclaimer: No ownie teh Zelda-ness. But plot and any OC's belong to moi.
AN: No, this isn't a one shot - It will become a multi chapter fic. This will proably end up a Yaoi (just warning those of whom, may not like it) and yes, I know that in the game Sheik is Zelda, I am aware of it. However, here he is not, he is his own walking, talking magic weilding little person.
That all said and done - On with the story!

Legend of Zelda: Wheel of Time
Prologue
'The Wheel of Time turns, and ages come and pass leaving memories that become legend, then fade to myth, and are long forgotten when that age comes again.'
Robert Jordan, 'The Wheel of Time'
In ages of darkness, people automatically reach toward the light, seeking and searching for some sort of foot hold against the evil, against an unending night. They grope blindly, their will wishing into existence a hope, and that hope giving spark to destiny.
And so destiny in turn, takes hold, forcing the people on with their lives, on with their dreams – futile, unending. But perhaps, when we are lucky enough, in the form of man, she dares to send a Hero.
And so it was, that once, long ago, in a time that was but never should have been, my own country fell ill with a plague of power, of hunger – an age of darkness that fell so surely and swift that none could displace it. Though many tried, a slow and painful death was their only reward. But the people hoped, and the people prayed.
And the Goddesses answered.
His name was Link.
They sent him forth from their sacred realm, a child in the body of a man, an innocence to fight against the evil that had enveloped the land. And he fought. With every breath within his body he struggled through the temples, freed the lights that The Evil had locked away. He bought the people back to life, and the Farore smiled through him.
And so the evil inevitably fell, shattered by the blinding bite of sacred steel and arrow. Hope prevailed, and my country survived. But the land it self was damaged beyond repair, the power and hate of its former 'King' having infected even the air. Its princess strove for an answer.
She found it in the notes of an ocarina.
Taking the instrument within her hands and cradling it with her magic, she turned back the clock, to a time when Hyrule was still pure, its core untouched and The Evil locked away where none could touch it. Time started afresh. And people forgot that there had even been a dark age, ever been a trial by fire and death and brimstone.
The truth lay only in half forgotten legends, that faded as the ages passed, drifting into obscurity.
But one race remembered what all others failed to grasp. One life fought to never forget the young girl who had come in the dead of night, in that time that was but never should have been, seeking sanctuary, receiving faith. One heart held onto an image of a hero, decked in green, with gentle words and even softer skin. Blue eyes that spoke of evils the world could never know, and pain so deep it would turn the rivers black with mourning. One mind held onto him.
One life.
One race.
