I Got Your Back

"You took my knife didn't you! I had it right here, give it back punk!" Cato yelled, pushing the kid in the chest. Peacekeepers everywhere ran towards them, dragging Cato away before he could do any real damage and say 'start the hunger games early'

Marvel heard some giggling from above him. He looked up at the hanging hopes to see a girl about a year younger than him, 17, quietly laughing as she twirled Cato's knife in her nimble fingers. He could help but laugh at it himself.

"Very clever. You better be careful though," He called up to her. She only smiled and slipped through the ropes, jumping down in front of Marvel. Her smile starting to turn infectious.

She still played with the knife in her hands, her big, light brown eyes looking up at him. "What's he going to do, kill me?" She laughed. "I'm Rue. District 11,"

"Yeah I remember you at the chariot ride. Very pretty for that District. I'm Marvel, district-," "1," She cut him off, putting the knife in one hand and shaking his hand with her other. "Luxury District. I also remember you from the chariot ride in that um- glittery dress thing you wore,"

Marvel looked away a little embarrassed; he hated that ugly glittery pink robe they made him wear. But then he also remembered Rue, her tall thin body dressed in a silk, sky blue blouse with a denim overalls that stopped at her knees. Her slightly fluffy hair was straightened; they put small curls at the tips and then tied it into a pony tail, throwing it over her shoulder. Her milk chocolate skin was glowing that night, so smooth and soft. And her smile, it light up all of Panem when she had smiled as she waved to the crowd.

Rue slightly pushed Marvel in the shoulder to bring him back. "Hello?" she laughed, seeing he was out of it. Marvel shook his head and smiled down at her since he was a little bit taller. But behind her he saw Cato staring at them angrily.

"Oh no," Marvel said as he saw Cato pushing through people to get to them.

Rue turned around, placing her hands behind her back.

"So you're the one that stole it?" Cato yelled as he approached them. Marvel turned to face Cato, slowly slipping the knife out of Rues hands and lifting the back of his shirt, sliding it into the waist band of his pants and then covering it with his shirt.

"Cato calm down she doesn't have it," Marvel says calmly.

"Yes she does I saw her!" He yells, stepping closer to her. Marvel stepped in front of Rue, blocking Cato.
"She doesn't have it man, don't go all hulk on her. Look," He says looking back at her, she lifts up her hands for Cato to see they were empty. Cato huffs in anger, staring at her with ice-like eyes."You better watch your back in the Games," He spits before storming away. Marvel smiles, trying not to laugh. Rue just looks at him, both of them still watching Cato walk away. Marvel lifts up the back of his shirt to reveal the knife.

"Watch your back. Get it?" He says and immediately him and Rue burst out laughing.

"You're so lame Marvel," She says through a soft laugh. She places her hand gently on his shoulder and leans closer. "But thank you for all your help," She says as she kisses his check and begins to walk away.

Marvel looks after her. "Aw, that's all I get?" He says playfully.

Rue turns around and smiles, "Hmm, I'll think about it," She says before walking off to another station.
