Even as Gabriel stepped closer to Lucifer, sword in hand, he knew it was futile. He could put on a good show, confident and fearless, but he knew he wouldn't survive the night. He knew what was coming. He knew how it would end. He'd seen it.

And yet, he was still surprised when Lucifer suddenly turned and grabbed his sword, forcing it downward.

Gabriel made a small, odd sound of pain, looking up at his big brother, expression that of shock and pain.

"Amateur hocus-pocus?" Lucifer muttered, holding Gabriel close, "Don't forget, you learned all your tricks from me, little brother."

Gabriel's eyes were screaming no, no, no, please, no, take it out, it hurts, big brother please stop hurting me but Lucifer wasn't stopping why wasn't he stopping? instead he drove the sword in deeper no please big brother stop-! and Gabriel screamed, his Grace exploding out of his eyes and mouth as he briefly dwindled between existing and not existing, before falling into oblivion.

Lucifer pushed Gabriel to the floor and stepped back, taking a deep breath. He didn't quite understand what he was feeling, but he wanted it to stop. His heart ached painfully as he stared down at Gabriel's body. It was unlike any feeling he had ever experienced before. The closest would be when Michael had betrayed him, and even that wasn't quite the same. He took another couple of deep breaths, feeling his vessel's eyes water and unable to figure out why. Was something wrong? He'd never felt like this before.

Stupid Gabriel, he thought, making him do that. He hadn't wanted to kill his own little brother. But he'd had no choice. Gabriel wasn't going to be on his side. Gabriel was going to kill him. He'd told Gabriel not to make him, but he hadn't listened, and so he'd...he'd...

He'd had to die. It had been the right thing to do, right?

He shook his head, closing his eyes in an attempt to get his vessel's eyes to stop watering. It didn't help much. He opened his eyes again and glanced at Gabriel one more time before turning away. His voice broke as he muttered his farewell.

"Goodbye, little brother..."

He disappeared.

...I don't really know. I've wanted to write something Lucifer and Gabriel related since I saw Hammer of the Gods, and I finally got inspiration to write this. I LOVED the episode. Even though Gabriel died. I still loved it. It was a really good episode, especially since Dean's stopped being such a whiney b****. Lucifer showed so much emotion near the end and I just...
*sniffle*
Ahem *grabs tissue* anyway. Feedback would be nice. I'd like to know how well I did with this. ^^;
