On a dark evening, Miles 'Tails' Prower sat alone on his rooftop, staring sadly at the moon and stars. He stared in his hand at a small white seed and clutched it tightly in his grip.
"Why, of all things, why did you have to be the one to go?" Tails asked sadly, remembering the one girl that could've been the love of his dreams… the flower of his life… Cosmo…
Flashback
"You must fire Tails, please!" Cosmo's voice echoed, "It's the only way to save us all, including the galaxy and my clan!"
"I can't hurt you and I don't want to!" Tails' voice cried as tears moistened his face, "I don't know what will happen if I lost you!"
"You won't, Tails… I'll always be with you, inside your heart…"
Silence followed at the Sonic Boom cannon roared and a white light filled the area…
"Please remember me… try to be happy…"
"Cosmo…?"
"Goodbye, Tails…" She vanished… and his voice screamed out.
"COSMO!"
End flashback
With a hard sniffle and doing his best to wipe away the tears from his face, Tails stared again into his hand. He remembered again, when he had watched Cosmo disappear and Sonic had approached him. The fox begged that Sonic had done something, anything, to find her again. Sadly, the hedgehog had found nothing of Cosmo, until he remembered what was hiding in his glove; a seed. He gave it to Tails for keeping and for a long time, Tails had taken good care of it, hoping one day…
…she'll come back to him…
"If only I had told her…" He wept, "If only I had had enough time to tell her how I felt for her! Why do these things even happen! That should've been me who died and not Cosmo! That could've been me!" He wept in his hands again, unnoticing the seed as it slipped from his grip and plopped next to him and it glowed… very brightly.
But poor Tails was too upset to notice the event… but then a hand gently touched his shoulder, making the two-tailed fox startle and he turned with a jolt…
His mouth gaped…
At a familiar young girl with hair the color of spring grass, eyes the color of water, and roses the color of blood…
"Tails…?"
His aqua eyes widened even bigger… "C…C…Cosmo…?"
She smiled, "You do remember me."
Tails leapt up without hesitation and embraced the plant girl he had missed for so many years. Oh how long he had waited, and it was worth the wait.
"C-Cosmo…" He hiccupped and Cosmo made hushing noises as she stroked her hand through his yellow-orange fur. They stayed like this for a long time as they finally parted, smiling and both with tear-filled eyes.
"Cosmo… I wish I could've told you…"
"I know… I love you, Tails…"
"Me too, Cosmo…" They stared even longer as Cosmo placed a finger onto the fox's top lip and she pulled in slowly…
"Cos…?"
"Shh…" As her lips reached his, a kiss was met between the two new lovers. As they pulled back, Cosmo placed her gaze on Tails' wrist and gasped a little. Tails took notice of what she was looking at: cuts on his wrist.
"Tails… what have you done to yourself?" She asked in great worry.
"I…I-I…" Tails finally sighed in defeat, "It's really hard to explain, you left me for so long and the rest of us too…"
Indeed, on his wrist were scars that looked either purple or a dark black but with a hint of red here and there. The fox frowned at what he had done to himself.
"You're hurt, badly…"
"No, Cosmo. I was only… I didn't know why, but… I couldn't stop doing this, I…" Tails was left with an unfinished sentence as Cosmo took him by the hand, "Please understand, Cosmo…"
"I do, Tails. But we have to take care of those cuts before they get worse…" She gently pulled him along at they went back inside Tails' home.
'I think Cosmo has really changed while she was gone…' Tails blushed quietly, 'But it's one of the reasons I fell in love with her in the first place…'
