They sat on the floor, cards pages of paper layed out in front of them. Kyle stared at them with a frown across his face. Zoe watched him silently, waiting to see his reaction, but Kyle just looked at the picture of the paper.

Zoe explained, "We have to be able to communicate with each other." Kyle frowned at her. "You need to be able to tell me what you want or how you're feeling." Zoe said slowly. "I'm going to teach you."

Kyle frowned back at the paper. Zoe rolled her eyes, thinking this was already going to fail, but she would still give it a go. She picked up the first piece of paper, holding it up for him to see.

"Happy." She said. "See the smiling face." She pointed to the round, yellow face. "If you like something, you are happy with it." Zoe explained.

Kyle took the paper and looked closely at it, running his finger tip across it. "Happy." He sounded out.

"That's right!" Zoe cheered, giving him an M&M as a reward.

"Happy!" Kyle cheered as he ate the chocolate.

Zoe smiled gleefully and picked up another picture. "Angry. This is an angry face. You get angry when you don't like something."

Kyle took that piece as well to examine. As he studied the image, Madison walked in, rolling her eyes at the two. She stood between them and gave a light chuckle.

"You know, this isn't going to work."

"It is working, he's learning." Zoe defended.

"He doesn't have a brain! How can you expect him to learn anything?"

"I'm going to teach him. He'll learn at least the basics. I could maybe teach him math and science." Zoe shrugged. "I'll never know unless I try."

"You're wasting your time." Madison sang.

"Angry." Kyle choked out, handing Madison the paper he had.

"What the hell is this?" she scoffed.

"Don't like." He smirked, looking at Zoe for praise.

She laughed, "Very good Kyle." She clapped, "See," she said, turning to Madison, "He's learning fast."

Kyle shyly looked down and handed Zoe another piece of paper. It was the one with the smiling face on it, the happy one. She looked up at Kyle, seeing him blushing.

"I like." He whispered, reaching to touch her knee.

Zoe smiled warmly at him as Madison rolled her eyes and left them. Zoe handed the paper back to Kyle and moved on to the next paper.

Alright this is my first ever Zyle and I hope anyone who still reads these likes it!
