The ARC
AN: this is a completely new Idea that popped into my head, so it might work, or it might fail completely, set at the start of series three. As always, please review.
Disclaimer: I own nothing but my OC, Lorelei.
Chapter one- Captain Becker
Lorelei sat at her desk at the ARC massaging her temples, her mind replaying the events of that dreadful day, the day that her whole life seemed to change. The day Stephen died. She remembered it well,
(Flashback)
"Stephen!" She pressed her face to the small glass window in the door, she felt so helpless, "Stephen, open this door now!" she screamed, he did nothing but shake his head, "Stephen please listen to me!"
"Stay out of trouble." His voice was so calm; it was as though he was trying to soothe her. It wasn't working. She let the hot tears fall freely from her eyes, although she hated what he was doing, Lorelei couldn't help but admire him, he didn't seem scared at all. But that was Stephen; always brave when it mattered.
It all happened so fast, one minute he was there and the next, gone. "No," she whispered, trying to tell herself that this was a dream,
"Lorelei." The hushed tone of Nick Cutter's voice brought her back to the real world, he was gone, it had happened, and she hadn't done a damn thing to stop it! Lorelei couldn't help it, she knew she shouldn't but she did, she turned on Nick, the man who had been a father figure to her ever since the first anomaly in the forest of dean. She turned on the man who had never left her side.
"You should have stopped him." Turning around she noticed Helen was no longer there, she didn't care, she just kept her eyes focused on Nick, "why didn't you stop him!" her knees buckled, as though they couldn't physically take the weight of her grief, Nick was by her side in an instant, and holding her close to him, letting the twenty year old cry on his shoulder. They stayed like that for at least fifteen minutes, silently comforting each other, just by being there.
(End of flashback)
She was brought out of her thoughts by someone rudely clearing there throat rather loudly next to her, She looked up to see Lester giving her a disapproving look,
"Can I help you?" she asked bluntly, she couldn't do with his stupid sarcastic remarks today. Lester nodded his head in the direction of the grey set of doors leading to the surrounding corridors of the operation room, where a tall brunette man, all dressed in black was glancing around, trying to hide just how curious he was. "Yes? What about him?"
"His name is Captain Becker, sarcastic fellow,"
How ironic she thought,
"Give him a detailed tour would you, I've got paper work to do." Lorelei was about to protest but she didn't get the chance; Lester was now half way towards the ramp leading to his office. Lorelei sighed and slid gracefully out of her chair, before lazily wandering over to the new head of security, she had read his file two days previously, and it was seriously impressive, at the age of twenty four Becker had already claimed 'Captain' status.
"Captain Becker?" the man nodded and held out his hand, "I'm Lorelei Swan, I've been told to give you a detailed tour, most of the team aren't here but I'm pretty sure Cutter is in this building somewhere." The young Captain nodded again, doesn't like to talk much does he. "Shall we."

During the tour Becker didn't say much at all, which, strangely enough Lorelei was grateful for, it was getting late and she wanted to get home, The two had just walked out of the armoury when a very flustered Nick Cutter sprinted up the hallway to them,
"Lorelei," he breathed, "Something's happened to the ADD, come on!"
"Or as normal people say, hello." Lorelei joked; this earned a very small snigger from Becker behind her, ahh a bit of a personality.
"Sorry Lor. Hello. Now we need your help!"
Twenty minutes later Lorelei pulled herself up from underneath the main computer, "Loose connection, that's all." She stated brushing herself off, Nick nodded and stepped back, so he was standing next to Becker, this triggered something in Lorelei's memory,
"Ahh Nick Cutter, meet Captain Becker." She glanced down at her watch, "Right my shift officially ended twenty five minutes ago, so I'm going home, Night guys." And with that she left, she needed fresh air and a diet coke.
