Title: Reflecting Reality
By: Amaya Riordan
Original Song: "The Mirror" By Dream Theater ('What? This is a songfic?' You ask. Yes, actually, it IS a songfic....the dialogue is the lyrics to the song.)
Disclaimer: I do not own Gundam Wing, nor do I own Heero and Duo, although I wish I did. Don't own any of Dream Theater's songs, but they're all really cool.
Warning: Shounen Ai
"Thanks for saving me again, Hee-chan..." Duo said quietly, shuffling his feet a bit, his eyes to the floor.
Heero was sitting at his desk, staring at the screen. "Hn. I always have to save you, you know that? I'm getting really sick of this, Duo."
Duo looked up, hurt shining through his sparkling eyes. "Heero....don't you know what happened?" Heero ignored him, and continued to watch the letters and numbers fly across the screen on his beloved laptop. Duo sighed and put his hands on Heero's shoulders, and began to massage his back.
Almost disgusted, Heero threw him off with a jerky movement. 'It's so tempting....' "Why won't you leave me alone! You're lurking in every corner., everywhere I go!"
Duo stepped away from his koi quickly. '...Self control....' "Don't turn your back on my now, when I need you most!"
"This constant pressure tests my will-"
"Your will or your won't?" Duo interrupted Heero's argument. "My self control escapes from me still." Heero glared at him. Now Duo was angry; the usual smile on his face quickly faded, his face will of rage.
"Duo...what's the matter?" Heero asked, a bit confused and somewhat concerned.
"Hypocrit!" Duo yelled in a burst of fury. "How could you be so cruel and expect my faith in return!"
Heero wanted to embrace him, so Duo would forgive his harshness once more. 'Resistance...' He shrugged. "It's not as hard as it seems when you close the door."
"I've spent so long trusting in you," Duo wiped a tear from one of his glassy violet eyes. "I trust you forgot. Just when I thought I believed in you."
As if he had no control over his actions, Heero jumped up and embraced Duo tightly, wiping another fallen tear from Duo's cheek with his tounge.
"What are you doing........?!" Duo protested
"It's time for me to deal. This is becoming all too real, living in fear." Heero pierced Duo with his deep blue eyes.
"Why did you lie and pretend? This has to come to an end. I'll never trust you again. It's time you made your amends."
Heero looked away. "Look in the mirror, my friend." He paused. "I haven't behaved as I should"
"Everything you need is around you." Duo said to him lightly. "The only danger is inside you."
"I thought you could control life, but it's not like that. There are things you can't control."
Duo pulled Heero's chin so he could look into his eyes. Duo's face was no longer full of anger, but more gentle now. "Let's stare the problem right in the eye. It's plagued me from coast to coast. Racing the clock to please everyone; all but the one who matters the most."
Heero could see himself in Duo's captivatingly beautiful eyes. 'Reflections of reality are slowly coming into view.' "How in the hell could you possibly forgive me, after all the hell I've put you through? It's time for me to deal, becoming all too real. Living in fear; Why'd I betray my friend, lying until this end, living life to pretend...?" Heero held Duo close and kissed him gently. "It's time I made my amends. I'll never hurt you again."
Duo whimpered and clung onto Heero tightly. Finally, Heero had given him the answer to the question he had been asking for so long.
