Dawn by Myrriadd

Fandom: House M.D.
Pairing: Cameron/Chase
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Rating: K+
Spoilers: Hunting (2x07)
Summary: The morning after, or rather the dawn after, hence the title. (How imaginative.. :D I'm trying to come up with a better one.)
Author's notes: I wrote this after I saw Hunting so it's not completely accurate since in reality they didn't get weird about it.
This is the first fanfiction I've ever written. I don't have a beta but if anyone there is interested in that job, please contact me.
I'm not as good a writer I wish I was, but I'm trying to improve so any kind of feedback, especially constructive criticism is appreciated. English is not my first language so please point out all expressions that sound un-American. o O

The apartment was quiet and dim when he woke up. They laid next to each other on the bed, tangled in sheets. The music had stopped playing and morning was creeping up on them.

It wasn't the first time he woke up in a strange apartment. Sometimes he met girls at bars, sometimes boys too, and slept with them. He never stayed for breakfast, not even until dawn. He slipped out of their apartment quietly or made up excuses about going to work or having to feed a pet. They gave him their number, but he never called them.

He turned to look at her. She was asleep, curled up beside him, her breath tiny puffs on his shoulder. Her hair was a mess, hiding her face. He knew he should leave, but laying next to her was easy. He knew her, she knew him. She smelled familiar and her room was cozy and warm, very much like her.

She stirred up beside him and sat up suddenly. Their eyes met. She reached for his jeans that had been discarded on the floor and handed them to him.

"You should leave." She sounded tired, meth worn out of her system.

"Yeah." He got off the bed and zipped up his jeans, then exited the bedroom to collect his shirt and jacket from the living room where they'd been left in a rush some hours earlier.

He returned, standing in the doorway looking at her. She sat on the bed sheets pooling around her waist. She didn't meet his gaze. He tried to think of something to say.

"Cameron." She didn't flinch.

He bent down and kissed her cheek hastily, before leaving the bedroom, then the apartment.
