This is my first fanfic, and I really like where it is going! No flames please! If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all! Also, shout out to YoursTruly13 for some great ideas!

Chapter 1: "But, I don't want to!"

"Mother! I don't want to go to the city!!" I yelled at my mother, Renee.

"Don't scream Isabella, and you must go. You are pretty and have learned your homemaking skills well. And, just in time too. The princes are looking for brides. You will make a good wife, if only you will learn to control your temper."

"Please, Mother! I don't want to marry a prince. I would be just as happy – happier even if I could marry the one I love."

"Love," my mother scoffed. "Love is for commoners. And, commoners we are not. Your father is a powerful man – never forget that Isabella. So, tomorrow you will be going into the city to stay in our castle there. The ball is on Friday. Today is Wednesday so we don't have much time. My guard, Jacob, will accompany you there and stay with you to make sure you are safe, and your maid, Leah, will also accompany you. You are going! No arguments."

I knew it was useless, my mother was as stubborn as I. "Yes, Mother."

"Oh, and Alice and Rosalie will be staying with you. Their parents are also looking forward to this opportunity."

I smiled. Ali and Rose were my best friends, and I was happy that they were going too.

I really didn't want to marry a prince, but once my mother made up her mind there was no changing it. I loved my mother very much, but, in my opinion, she too stuck-up. She was always going on about this new fashion and so on. Of course there is always my favorite, "He married her?!?!?!?!"Alice and Rosalie were also into that, but not in a stuck-up way. While the princes were very handsome, I wasn't really interested in marrying one of them. But, if I had to choose, I think that I would choose Prince Edward. With his piercing emerald green and his striking, unruly bronze hair, he was by far the most handsome. Of course, Alice and Rosalie both disagreed, they thought he was handsome, but Alice preferred Prince Jasper and Rosalie preferred Prince Emmett.

I sighed. I really didn't want to go, but I should know by now that what Mother wants Mother gets.

I felt someone shaking me and calling my name, "Lady Isabella! "Lady Isabella!"

I jolted awake. Oh joy! Today is Thursday and I am leaving to go to the royal city, Spoons. "Okay! Okay! I'm up."

"Okay, we have a lot to do in a little amount of time. I have already packed all your clothes, and ordered a new ball gown for the ball tomorrow. All we need to do is get you ready to go."

"A new gown? Why do I need a new gown? I have a nice gown that is perfectly useable."

"I know, my lady, but your mother wishes it."

"Drop the formalities, Leah. Please!"

"So, get dressed, Bella, and then we will go pick up your friends. Jakey and I will be down stairs waiting for you."

I laughed. Leah and Jake were absolutely perfect for each other. They were so cute together. "Ok! Tell Jakey I said hello."

Now, it was Leah's turn to laugh. "Ok, Bella, but hurry up. You know your mother…"

"Yeah, I know, she will probably eat me alive if I don't get down soon."

Leah laughed again. "Probably," she agreed, "So, I will see you in a few minutes."

"Ok."

I found the dress Leah had laid out for me. It was really pretty. It was a dark green and suited my pale skin and dark hair perfectly.

"ISABELLA! GET DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW! YOU MUST LEAVE IMMEDIATLY!!"

"Isabella! Get down here right now! You must leave immediately," I mocked. "YES, MOTHER."

I hurriedly slipped on my shoes and ran out the door to my new life.
