"One; Pick your
target."
"Done."
"Two; Get a good handful of
mud."
"Done."
"No, take a bigger one."
"Okay…
Done"
"Good. Three; Pack the mud together into a hard
ball."
"Right. Done."
"Four; Take aim."
"Be
careful not to aim to low. This is not as accurate as the targeting
computer in an x-wing."
"Duly noted. Ready."
"Just five
left then." Wes' evil smile widened a bit more. "Five;
Fire!"
Gavin's arm shot out, the mud ball hitting the intended
target square in the back. The target started to turn around making
the three pilots duck behind their cover fast. They did not even
notice who their target had been.
"Think he spotted us?" Gavin
panted, out of breath.
"You worried?" Wes teased.
"Don't
tease the kid." Hobbie said, "Not his fault no one ever taught
him this kind of stuff."
"Hey, I don't ne…" Gavin was
cut of as all three pilots comlinks went off.
After looking down
at his, Wes said. "Think we have to continue this later."
"Yeah,
if only no one nick our stuff." Hobbie said worriedly.
"Don't
worry that's not gonna happen." Wes said. "Let's get
going."
After two hours Wes and Hobbie finally made it back
to their stuff, though only to find it gone.
"Oh, come on! Who
would steal a bucket of mud?" Wes said with an extremely irritated
look in his eyes. He looked wildly around for a moment. "Probably
some stupid cleaner or something."
"More likely someone who
wants revenge." Hobbie said.
Across the hangar from Wes and
Hobbie two other pilots were hiding behind some boxes.
"Right
where I want them." Wedge said an evil smile spreading across his
face.
"You're evil." Tycho noted.
"So?" Wedge raised
a daring eyebrow at his friend.
"So, get on with it." Tycho
smiled. Wedge glanced over at his x-wing, which were still splattered
with small spots of mud from when he had been hit just before the
squadron had been called in for the briefing. Also his flight suit
was still covered in the stuff.
"I wonder how they get this
stuff of their hands." Wedge mumbled as he gathered a nice big ball
of mud in his hands.
"Yeah, smells really bad." Tycho agreed
making his own mud ball.
Across the hangar Wes and Hobbie were
starting towards their x-wings apparently having given up on their
mud.
"Ready?" Wedge asked receiving a nod from Tycho and he
continued. "Aim. And. Fire!"
The two arms shot out slinging a
mudball each.
Seconds later everybody in the hangar looked up as
the two targeted Rogues cried out in surprise as they were both hit
straight in the neck by big balls of mud.
On the other side of the
hangar the two other Rogues curled up laughing at their friends
reactions. When Wes and Hobbie saw their friends laughing and noted
that their hands were covered in mud they started towards them.
"What
is…" Wes started angrily, but Wedge cut him of.
"Don't,
Janson! This is payback and it is exactly what you deserve!" Wedge
said. "This and the work you're going to get, cleaning the mud of
my x-wing!"
