Jack eyed the ride they were standing in front of nervously and took a step back. "No," he said.

Ianto watched the people exiting the ride as others took their vacated seats. "Why not?"

"Look at it," Jack said, motioning with one hand toward the ride, "It's a deathtrap."

"It's a children's ride," Ianto said, rolling his eyes.

"Do you know how easily someone could fall?"

"You like to stand on rooftops, Jack. This isn't nearly as high."

"Yes, but buildings are sturdy and this is..." Jack waved his hand in the direction of the ride again. "We could fall to our deaths."

"You can't die."

"I die. I just come back."

"Still..."

"Being able to come back is no reason to risk my life with carelessness."

"So that thing with Abaddon? Or the Sleeper Cell?" he asked. "All the lone weevil hunts?"

"Those weren't careless."

Ianto raised an eyebrow.

"They weren't. I was saving the world."

"All right, maybe they were necessary, but they're much more dangerous than a Ferris Wheel," Ianto said. "This is my favourite carnival ride, Jack. I really want to do this."

"I really don't," Jack whined. "Can't we go ice skating instead?

"Jack," Ianto said slowly, watching as the next group settled into the empty seats. "Are you seriously telling me that a group of school children are getting on that ride yet Captain Jack Harkness, Time Agent and leader of Torchwood is afraid to?"

Jack looked at the children, then back at Ianto. "All right, you win. But if I fall to my death..."

Ianto smirked and pulled him toward the ride, "If you fall to your death I promise to find a way to make it up to you when you wake up."

Jack followed behind, almost hoping for a ride malfunction so that Ianto would indeed have to make it up to him, as his mind filled with ideas of how Ianto could do just that.

The end.
