A/N: I got the idea for this after re-reading an SVU fanfic called "To Kill A Spider," this is the Taggart version. It's a very silly little short story. Hope you like :)

Disclaimer: I own nothing.

Incredible

The scream that ripped through the CID was enough to send Michael catapulting out of his chair and spilling out of his office door without even thinking. He had only heard her that terrified once before and he didn't even want to imagine what had made her this frightened now.

He skidded to a stop when he saw her standing, apparently unharmed, a short distance from her desk; staring at it as though something was going to jump off it and attack her. Following her gaze his eyes came to rest on a large, hairy spider.

His relief that it was only a spider made him laugh out loud, she glanced across at him. "It's not funny, Michael," she informed him, she raised a shaking hand to point at the spider, "that...thing just appeared out of nowhere."

Still suppressing his amusement, he turned to Stuart, who was sitting, frozen in horror, at his desk. "Fraser," Stuart's head snapped up to look at him, "dispose of that will you?" he asked, making to go back into his office. He paused when Stuart didn't move but merely sat at his desk staring blankly at him.

"Fraser..." he began in a warning tone, Stuart took the hint. He got slowly to his feet and started to move gingerly towards the desk; a rolled up newspaper in his hand.

He jumped back in fright near to where Jackie stood as the spider moved.

Michael rolled his eyes and walked over to where Jackie and Stuart both stood cowering in fear a few feet away from the spider. With a long suffering sigh he took the newspaper off Stuart, turned around and smartly swatted the spider. Taking a tissue from the box on top of the coffee machine, he picked up the spider and dumped it in the rubbish bin.

When he had finished he turned back to face Jackie and Stuart who were looking at him with identical expressions of admiration and gratitude. "Was that so hard?" he asked them both, though mainly addressing Stuart as he handed him back the newspaper.

Stuart swallowed as he ducked back to his desk. "Thank you Michael," Jackie said, a touch sheepishly as he gravitated back towards his office. "Don't mention it," he told her, looking back to see her gingerly looking under her files as she sat back down.

He shook his head; Jackie was probably the bravest woman he knew and there she was, scared out of her wits by a spider.

Incredible.
