Jacob held her closely as she stained his shirt with her tears. She tasted blood in her mouth but continued to let it flow. If she bled to death, she'd be happy here, in his arms.
"Leah, don't give up," Jacob's voice was music to her - a beat of four, perfect for a dance. . . Leah's eyes were shadowed by a cloud of darkness. She felt very light headed. Emily being pregnant and engaged to Leah's ex wasn't that bad really, was it?
"It's fine Jacob," Leah eventually whispered, pushing back against his chest. He didn't let her go. "Jake, I don't need comforting. This. . . event is just one more step closer to what I've been dreading, or, really waiting for. I've been preparing myself for months." A lump rose in both Leah's and Jacob's throat.
"Leah, I want you," he whispered, his own tears falling on Leah's hair. Leah looked up at the tall man, her eyes longing - hoping. "This. . . thing with Bella a-and the bloodsu- Edward," Jacob corrected himself, annoyed. "Was just something I'd known would happen since the fight with the vampires. . . Even before then, when Bella forgave him so easily. Even after everything." Leah could feel his tears and his emotions and they were hers. She was hurting because of the bloodsucker and his pet. She was crying because of it. Leah reached up and touched Jacob's cheek with slender fingers.
"Your scars are fresh, Jake," she whispered, "but they'll heal. I promise." A promise she was trying to keep. Could she though?
"Your scars are old, Lee - Lee. Does that mean they don't still hurt when someone touches them?" Jacob mumbled, softly, leaning into her hair. Leah froze for the moment.
"N-no. . . It never stops hurting, Jacob," the truth - was it truly worth telling? When it hurt someone so humbly?
"Make it go away, Lee - Lee," he whispered into her ear, "make it all go away."
Abruptly, Leah reached up and planted her lips on Jacob's, their tears mixing as they both cried their miseries out.
"I hate you," Leah whispered through the kiss. A lie.
"No you don't," Jacob argued, softly as he broke off for air. He was right of course. Leah didn't hate the sixteen year old. She loved him. Whether it be an imprint, death or annoyance that parted them somewhere, she'd always love him.
A/N: A cute little one - shot. I was thinking of how Emily and Sam would likely have kids one day, and how Leah and Jacob would take it, and since Jacob was hurting so badly because Bella was getting married and Leah was hurting because of Sam it worked out perfectly. . . Such two amazing characters.
